FOUNDATION:
It was founded in 1853 by Levi Strauss in San Francisco
California. The company's corporate headquarters is
located at Levi's Plaza in San Francisc.
The company traces its origin to Levi Strauss
(1829–1902) a Bavarian immigrant who arrived in San
Francisco in 1850 during the Gold Rush bringing dry
goods for sale to miners. Hearing of the miners need for
durable pants the Strauss hired a tailor to make
garments out of tent canvas. Later, denim was
substituted & copper was added to pocket seams.

in 1853.
In 1873 Levi Strauss and tailor Jacob Davis received
a U.S. patent to make the first riveted men's work
