Here are some of the lessons I learned from our community of practice group about enterprise search.
The presentation was pressented on Enterprise Search Europe Oct. 21. 2015
This deck, presented at Connected Data London 2018 (7 Nov. 2018), looks at the past, present and possible future of schema.org.
In particular it examines to which degree schema.org has helped move us toward the web of linked data envisioned by Tim Berners-Lee, and what lessons can be learned from what, I argue, has been the successful launch of a collaboratively-developed structured data vocabulary.
Since Google is focusing more on the quality of content and developed algorithmic filters like Panda, websites have started to develop massive amounts of content both onpage and offpage. This often goes without thinking about the impact on the overall website performance in the perspective of organic search.
With the latest Panda update being rolled out at the moment, everybody notices new victims.
We will share examples and techniques on how to minimise the risk of the previous mentioned issues and optimise your current content marketing strategies before Panda hits your website.
‘More content is not always better.’
This the presentation I gave at Congres Intranet in Utrecht on March 22, 2016. How to make a robust intranet navigation for your intranet or digital workplace. You need a strategy and target groups for your intranet/digital workplace before you can find the tasks. And when you have found the tasks you need to prioritize them and based on the most important tasks you find your topnavigation. And then you test your topnavigation based on the most important tasks.
Finding the best navigation for your intranet or digital workspace is a challenge. This workshop provides tools to create an intranet strategy and goals that appeal to c-suite executives. It will also cover how to find the biggest challenges with your intranet, how to find your target groups, ways to discover your colleagues' most valuable tasks and how to prioritize them, and suggests tools to find your top level navigation and how to test it. This highly interactive workshop will challenge you to think about intranets and digital workspaces in new ways, and give you the tools to find your top levels of navigation.

Much has been written about the challenges and consequences of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and noncompliance and significant fines need to be avoided.
In this session Concept Searching and integration partner, Britecloud, discuss not only the ramifications of GDPR but also how to address the compliance issues. They examine the tactical aspects of the solution, little-known stumbling blocks, and different tools that automate changes and provide an audit trail for compliance.
We don’t just talk about it. Our technologies have been addressing issues found within GDPR for many years. They can help you now.

Exploring Automatic Metadata Generation Based on SharePoint Term SetsConcept Searching, Inc
Many software products perform metadata capture and auto-classification, but SharePoint on-premises and SharePoint Online do not. Surveys indicate that the use of term sets is growing. Ideally, auto-classification of content to a taxonomy or to the SharePoint Term Store should be automatic and synchronized in real time.
This approach enables modification and fine tuning of data in a robust, secure, enterprise solution, which automatically populates term sets and eliminates the significant amount of development time typically needed. This session will discuss the different approaches to metadata generation – such as statistical, linguistic, and machine learning. And it will explore how automatically generating metadata adds value to all your SharePoint content, and automatically populates managed metadata properties.
You will learn:
* The benefits of metadata based on SharePoint term set structures.
* How you can manage term set GUIDs between farms.
* The relationship between managed metadata properties in SharePoint and document properties in Office documents.
* How to improve findability, regardless of which version of SharePoint you are using.
* What considerations you should give to scalability.
Back by popular demand, this webinar shows the features and functions that transform traditional taxonomy building into a high-value suite of interactive tools, to simplify content management and drive business processes.
The session shows the taxonomy building process with conceptTaxonomyManager, using automatically generated semantic metadata, and illustrating how easy it is to add taxonomy nodes manually. The product is designed for subject-matter experts, requires little training, and enables productivity from the day that auto-classification begins.
This webinar explores how easy and robust the unique taxonomy component is, and demonstrates automatic generation of metadata, auto-classification to a taxonomy, and how to manage metadata.
Speaker:
Michael Paye – Chief Technology Officer at Concept Searching
Metadata used to be an afterthought. Now, metadata is a pre-requisite and the optimal mechanism to drive business processes like security and records and, of course, to manage content.
In this session Robert Piddocke, our Vice President of Channel and Business Development – passionate about information management, and author of books on SharePoint Search – explores how going meta helps transcend typical metadata use.
Robert discusses SharePoint functionality and what needs to be put in place to deploy a metadata-driven enterprise and build a framework for the future, and how metadata can be used to automate and drive business processes, and proactively manage content.

Real World Challenges in Enterprise SearchAgnes Molnar
Enterprise Search is complex, even in theory. But when you implement your search solution and everything turns to reality, you'll find some new, never-seen challenges. In this session, Agnes will discuss the best, biggest, and most exciting challenges from her experience, including real world customer scenarios and solutions. Regardless of the SharePoint version you use (SharePoint 2010, FAST Search for SharePoint, SharePoint 2013), this session is for you if you want to prepare for these "unexpected" scenarios.
Coexist or Integrate? How Add-ins Deliver an Integrated Environment to Manage...Concept Searching, Inc
Are you successfully managing your unstructured content? Have you quantified the risks and costs of not proactively managing your content? Did you know that you can dramatically improve search, eDiscovery, security, records management, migration, collaboration, text analytics, and business social applications, just by getting your unstructured content in order?
There are key solutions that will enable you to achieve these improvements. conceptClassifier for SharePoint and conceptClassifier for Office 365 automatically generate multi-term metadata that form concepts. Imagine it – eliminating end user tagging.
Auto-classification and one natively integrated taxonomy/ Term Store, available on-premises, in the cloud, or in a hybrid environment, provide the backdrop for a single enterprise search, regardless of where end users are located. Tackle information governance and standardize processes across the entire enterprise.
The availability of these solutions as add-ins reduces time, costs, and resources, including those of both hardware and technical experts – a typical drain on SharePoint resources. Join us as we explore why you should evaluate add-ins, and how you can finally take charge of your content to meet a variety of challenges and achieve a significant ROI.
Key Success Factors for Enterprise Content ManagementIntlock Ltd.
SharePoint has always had a big emphasis on Content Management. This focus has been become stronger version by version. We've had more and more options to organize and classify content through sites, lists, libraries and folders, as well as managed metadata and other properties. These tools help build a SharePoint Information Architecture and are the foundation for improving document search within SharePoint. But as that architecture gets more complex, users can get overwhelmed by the amount of content, and can find themselves easily with a tons of siloed content and, at the same time, with lots of content that cannot be found at all. In these scenarios, Search can be a good option to help getting better findability, but sometimes it’s not enough. In this webinar, we’ll discuss some real-world Content Management use cases and demonstrate how content analytics can help to improve in these scenarios.
Adopting a Data-Driven Philosophy In Your OrganizationMark F Simmons
The use of data in your marketing and operations simply makes for better decisions. By changing your organization's feelings on data, you foster a culture where strategy is no longer based on opinion or instinct.
Concept Searching, developer of automatic semantic metadata, auto-classification, and taxonomy management, has teamed with WAND, developer of industry and business function specific foundation taxonomies, to make developing, deploying, and using taxonomies simple.
Are your end users disappointed with their search results? Can they find exactly what they need, when they need it, and in the right format?
Learn how to immediately take advantage of unique multi-word concept identification capabilities to rapidly classify unstructured and semi-structured content, aligned with organizational goals and eliminating end user tagging.
This drives improved outcomes in search transparency, information governance, and collaboration across the enterprise, and further refines taxonomies and the SharePoint Term Store.
Understand how to achieve a return on your investment and get your organization’s taxonomies up and running in just two to three weeks.
• The value of this combined offering, set against traditional approaches
• What are foundation taxonomies
• How to rollout taxonomies across an organization
• Ways to manage and change taxonomies
Organizations are beginning to recognize that search is not a stand-alone technology or application, but must be integrated with business processes and corporate objectives as a key infrastructure component.
Why? Providing enriched metadata to the search engine index significantly improves search applications, eDiscovery, FOIA requests, and collaboration.
In this webinar COMPU-DATA International and Concept Searching will demonstrate their combined offering that uses unique, language independent technology and integrated enterprise metadata repository management, to deliver intelligent metadata enabled search.
What you will learn about during this session:
• How our innovative technology delivers both high precision and high recall, using industry unique compound term processing

• Hvilke forandringer står intranettet over for?
• Hvordan får du den livsnødvendige opbakning fra ledelsen til dit intranet eller digitale arbejdsplads?

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

Paradox
“Storage costs are key. And it looks like there are
conflicting pressures: the cost of storage is
increasing, and the cost of storage is decreasing.”
Huh? “What’s happening is that the price of storage
is decreasing, but the cost is increasing.
And due to cloud and technology advancements,
the raw cost of storage is decreasing about 15% or
20%, but data is increasing at 40% to 50%. We
thought that the cloud, or tiering or de-duping was
going to save the day… but it hasn’t been the
solution.”
And: “IT budgets are growing at about 3% per
year.”
