PROJECT 1: Project Conception,
Documentation and Pitching
▪ This project cuts across three lessons, lesson one(1) being to identifying a
problem, outline the causes and the effects of this problem. You will then propose
solutions and describe a world free of the problem.
The values and principles to be upheld and promoted here will be teamwork, collaboration,
sacrifice, hard work, inclusion, diversity, leadership and helping and serving others.
▪ Lesson two(2) is dedicated to helping students document all the work that was
done in lesson one.
The values and principles to be upheld and promoted include; The value of history, The
importance of documentation, Other forms of presentation such as infographics, videos and
cartooning
▪ Lesson three(3) is dedicated to pitch rehearsals. Participants watch standard and
world class pitch presentations.
The values of this lesson The importance of communicating, and Presentation tips.
Lesson 1
This lesson is divided in into
six(6) sub sections which are:
❖ Problem identification
❖ Causes of the problem
❖ Effects of the problem
❖ Solution to the problem
❖ Activities to realize solution
❖ A better world
Project Conception
Project conception is the
first step in the process of
specifying the actual scope
of a project.
Section 1: Problem
identification
Identifying a problem shouldn’t be
difficult. The hard part is accepting
that you have a problem and do
everything you can to find a solution
to that problem.
Activity 1
1. Share their passion.
2. Share points of frustration
or problems that they find
in the community.
3. Write 5 issues that they
find disturbing in the
community.
4. Choose a primary issue
(problem) to focus on for
the project.
Section 2: Causes
of the Problem
Activity 2
Referring to exercise 4 in section
1, try to,
Identify causes of the
problem
Attach weights(set priorities)
to the causes of the problem
Section 3: Effects of
the Problem
Again, lets go back to our problem at
hand, problem we laid out in exercise
1 question 4
Activity 3
Highlight the issues(consequences)
that will arise if the problem
identified is not addressed
Name consequences arising from
the existence of the identified
problem
Check and include credible
statistics and reports on the effects
of this problem
Section 4: Solution(s)
to the Problem
Activity 4
Articulate a solution to the
problem that has been
identified.
Section 5: Activities to
realize the solution(s)
to the problem
Activity 5
List activities that will be
needed to help you realize the
solution(s) which you stated in
activity 4
All activities required to realize
the solution should be listed For
example; visit schools during
world sanitation week, create
sanitation clubs in schools,
organize annual conferences on
waste disposal.
Section 6: A Better
World
Activity 6
Describe the world that they
visualize(see) when the
problem in activity 1 is solved
eg, In a better world, the
street of Molyko will have no
floating plastics, no piles of
dirt etc.
Lesson 2
Recap of lesson 1, Project
conception
Activity 7
In this lesson, participants will
Type in all work into a word
document in a typical report
format
Make a PowerPoint presentation
of the report work.
Project documentation
Presentation & Pitching
Activity 8
Participants watch
standard and world class
pitch presentations.
This lesson is dedicated to
pitch rehearsals.
Lesson 3:
End of project 1
PROJECT 2-Project Implementation,
Personality Tests and Team Management &

Lesson 3
End of project 2
Project 3: Critical thinking
Critical thinking
Critical thinking is the ability
to think reflectively and
independently in order to
make thoughtful decisions.
Steps to critical thinking
Define the problem
statement
Divide and conquer
Ask focusing questions
Think
Consider past efforts
Use the most effective tool,
the 5 why’s
Use the 80/20 rule
Define the problem
statement
Define the problem statement
the problem statement should
define
success criteria,
time frame,
People involved, and
Boundaries.
Divide and Conquer
One of the first steps in any
good critical thinking process
is taking a very big problem
and breaking it down to
smaller ones that you can
actually solve.
Ask focusing questions
Ask focusing questions like,
What’s the real question?
What is the root cause?
Who is involved in the
decision?
Who can support it?
Who can derail it?
Articulate how you are going to
measure success(qualitatively or
quantitatively)
Ask the question behind the
question. Ask yourself why you
are being asked this question in the
first place
Think
Think backwards to
identify causes,
Think forward to
identify consequences
Consider past efforts
Another element of critical thinking
that goes into defining your problem is
considering past efforts.
Ask yourself has this problem been
considered in the past?
what did we learn?
What’s different now versus the last
time the problem was looked at?
Who was involved in the problem
solving last time?
By learning from experience we’re
going to prevent wasted efforts
Use the most effective
tool, the 5 why’s
One of the most effective
critical thinking tools is the
five why’s. we need to ask
why and really understand
cause. This can be annoying
but by the time you ask the
fourth or fifth why that’s
where the real insight is
Use the 80/20 rule
Use the 80/20 rule to think
critically.
The 80/20 rule is also known
as Pareto principle.
By applying the rule, 20% of
drivers will drive 80% of the
result that’s the 80/20 rule.
PROJECT 3 – Lesson 2:
The 4 Agreements
1. Be impeccable with your word
Speak with integrity
Say only what you mean
2. Don’t take anything personally
Nothing other do bothers you
What others say is a projection of their
own reality
3. Don’t make assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions
With this agreement, you can transform a
situation
4. Always do your best
Do not make yourself a slave to anybody’s
expectations
Communicate your thoughts
The End
Thank You

You will then propose solutions and describe a world free of the problem. The values and principles to be upheld and promoted here will be teamwork, collaboration, sacrifice, hard work, inclusion, diversity, leadership and helping and serving others. ▪ Lesson two(2) is dedicated to helping students document all the work that was done in lesson one. The values and principles to be upheld and promoted include; The value of history, The importance of documentation, Other forms of presentation such as infographics, videos and cartooning ▪ Lesson three(3) is dedicated to pitch rehearsals. Participants watch standard and world class pitch presentations. The values of this lesson The importance of communicating, and Presentation tips.
  • 3. Lesson 1 This lesson is divided in into six(6) sub sections which are: ❖ Problem identification ❖ Causes of the problem ❖ Effects of the problem ❖ Solution to the problem ❖ Activities to realize solution ❖ A better world Project Conception Project conception is the first step in the process of specifying the actual scope of a project.
  • 4. Section 1: Problem identification Identifying a problem shouldn’t be difficult. The hard part is accepting that you have a problem and do everything you can to find a solution to that problem. Activity 1 1. Share their passion. 2. Share points of frustration or problems that they find in the community. 3. Write 5 issues that they find disturbing in the community. 4. Choose a primary issue (problem) to focus on for the project.
  • 5. Section 2: Causes of the Problem Activity 2 Referring to exercise 4 in section 1, try to, Identify causes of the problem Attach weights(set priorities) to the causes of the problem
  • 6. Section 3: Effects of the Problem Again, lets go back to our problem at hand, problem we laid out in exercise 1 question 4 Activity 3 Highlight the issues(consequences) that will arise if the problem identified is not addressed Name consequences arising from the existence of the identified problem Check and include credible statistics and reports on the effects of this problem
  • 7. Section 4: Solution(s) to the Problem Activity 4 Articulate a solution to the problem that has been identified.
