Lesson Plan in English for Grade 7
I. Objective:
At the end of the discussion the students should be able to :
a. Comprehend the reading text.
b. Interpret the message of the selection.
c. Differentiate simple and compound sentence.
II. Subject Matter:
Indarapatra and Sulayman (A Maranao Epic)
Materials:
III. Procedure:
A. Daily Routine
- Prayer
- Greetings
- Checking of Attendance
- Checking of Assignment
- Recapitulation
B. Motivation
(Heroes and Monsters)
On a half sheet of paper the teacher will show some pictures of heroes and they
will choose a hero to explain what that hero is known for.
And next, the teacher will show pictures of mythological monsters and they will
choose again a monster and tell something about their chosen monster.
C. Presentation
The teacher will show a movie clip for the students to watch, and it is about
Indarapatra and Sulayman (A Maranao Epic). And then after watching the short movie,
they will answer some exercises.
D. Task 1. Word Sets
Determine which word does not belong to each set. Cross out that word. Be
prepared to explain what the rest of words have in common.
1. Ate, consumed , devoured , gobbled, harassed
2. Chaos, disaster, havoc, order, mayhem
3. News, reports, tidings, word, values
4. Awful, dreadful, ghastly, indescribable, shocking
5. Restored, reawakened, renewed, reneged, revived
E. Task 2. Watch Out
Study the following sentences. Write C if the sentence is a compound sentence
and S is it is a simple sentence.
1. The epic does not state where the monsters which ravaged Mindanao came
from.
2. The epic also doesn’t state where Indarapatra and Sulayman came from
either.
3. The experts say that Indarapatra and Sulayman came from Borneo and their
arrival represented the Indones wave of migrants to the Philippine islands.
4. Mindanao was depicted as a troubled land in the epic , and this depiction
seems true even to this age.
5. The people of Mindanao initially fought the monsters, but the monsters
were just too powerful for them to overcome.
6. Sulayman’s revival is seen as proof of his supernatural heritage.
7. Epic heroes often have supernatural abilities, but they too have
weaknesses.
8. The heroes in this epic simply wanted to help people in distress.
9. Indarapatra’s marriage to the headman’s daughter explains how his people
came to Mindanao.
10. Many of us see epics as fiction, yet reading an epic often reveals a lot of
truths about the people who created them.
IV. Evaluation
(My Hero)
The teacher will ask questions regarding on the story Indarapatra and Sulayman (A
Maranao Epic).
V. Assignment
Look for a LOCAL hero (mythical or real) and state what they can do that really amazed
you. Write it on a one whole sheet of paper.

  • 1. Lesson Plan in English for Grade 7 I. Objective: At the end of the discussion the students should be able to : a. Comprehend the reading text. b. Interpret the message of the selection. c. Differentiate simple and compound sentence. II. Subject Matter: Indarapatra and Sulayman (A Maranao Epic) Materials: III. Procedure: A. Daily Routine - Prayer - Greetings - Checking of Attendance - Checking of Assignment - Recapitulation B. Motivation (Heroes and Monsters) On a half sheet of paper the teacher will show some pictures of heroes and they will choose a hero to explain what that hero is known for. And next, the teacher will show pictures of mythological monsters and they will choose again a monster and tell something about their chosen monster. C. Presentation The teacher will show a movie clip for the students to watch, and it is about Indarapatra and Sulayman (A Maranao Epic). And then after watching the short movie, they will answer some exercises. D. Task 1. Word Sets Determine which word does not belong to each set. Cross out that word. Be prepared to explain what the rest of words have in common. 1. Ate, consumed , devoured , gobbled, harassed 2. Chaos, disaster, havoc, order, mayhem 3. News, reports, tidings, word, values 4. Awful, dreadful, ghastly, indescribable, shocking 5. Restored, reawakened, renewed, reneged, revived E. Task 2. Watch Out Study the following sentences. Write C if the sentence is a compound sentence and S is it is a simple sentence. 1. The epic does not state where the monsters which ravaged Mindanao came from. 2. The epic also doesn’t state where Indarapatra and Sulayman came from either. 3. The experts say that Indarapatra and Sulayman came from Borneo and their arrival represented the Indones wave of migrants to the Philippine islands. 4. Mindanao was depicted as a troubled land in the epic , and this depiction seems true even to this age. 5. The people of Mindanao initially fought the monsters, but the monsters were just too powerful for them to overcome. 6. Sulayman’s revival is seen as proof of his supernatural heritage. 7. Epic heroes often have supernatural abilities, but they too have weaknesses.
  • 2. 8. The heroes in this epic simply wanted to help people in distress. 9. Indarapatra’s marriage to the headman’s daughter explains how his people came to Mindanao. 10. Many of us see epics as fiction, yet reading an epic often reveals a lot of truths about the people who created them. IV. Evaluation (My Hero) The teacher will ask questions regarding on the story Indarapatra and Sulayman (A Maranao Epic). V.
