Topic/theme: Les animaux/Animals
Program of Study Objectives:

variety of purposes. (p. 11)
Language:
Knowledge of Vocabulary:
- students will demonstrate an understanding of vocabulary associated with:
o common farm animals (p. 22)

Outcomes/I Can statements
- I can list the 5 given farm animals that
are on a farm.
- I can say if a farm animal is big or
small.
Procedure
1. The teacher will tell the class what “I can” statements they will be able to do
by the end of the lesson.
2. Teacher will play the “Monseuir Dupont a une ferme…” as an anticipatory
set.
3. Five pictures of animals (cow, goat, horse, duck, dog) will be placed on the
white board when their word will be place beside them, but not in an order.
The teacher will show a word and sing part of the song, and then have the
students repeat the new word a few times. After, the teacher will place the
word beside the corresponding picture. The teacher will go through the other
four other animals in the same fashion.
4. The teacher will mix up the pictures and words on the board (pictures on one
side, words on the other) and will ask for a student to come up and match a
word to a picture. When they pick a word, they have to also say the word
and match it to the corresponding picture. Each student will come up to the

board and will do the same.
5. The teacher will introduce the language ladder by writing it on the board:
