1. LESSON PLAN FOR MICROTEACHING
The Blood and Its Composition
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students shall be able to:
1. Identify the different components of the blood.
2. Illustrate the blood and its composition.
3. Explain the importance of the blood in our body.
II. Subject Matter
1. Topic: The Blood
2. Sub-topic: Composition of Blood
3. Materials: Visual Aids with pictures.
4. References: BIOLOGY (Exploring Life Through Science) pp.272-275
III. Learning Strategies
A. Daily Routine: Greeting, Prayer, Cleaning of the Room, Checking of Attendance
B. Activity: Filling in the Missing Letter of the Statement.
The teacher will show a given statement with a missing letter. The student will

D. Input
The Blood and its Composition
Blood
It is the fluid that circulates in the blood vessels of the body and is made up
of plasma, the liquid matrix, and formed elements that consist of cells and
cell fragments floating with in it.
2. The LiquidMatrix
PLASMA
The liquid vehicle of the cell where cell and cell fragments are
suspended. It makes the 55 percent of the total volume of the blood
in our body.
The Formedelements
RBC or RED BLOOD CELL (Erythrocyte)
Circular, biconcave disk; without nucleus; contains red chemical
pigment, the hemoglobin which color the red cell.
Its main task is to transport oxygen from the lungs to the various
tissues of the body and to assist carbon dioxide from the tissues to
the lungs.
WBC or WHITE BLOOD CELL ( Leukocytes)
Irregular in shape, colorless with a nucleus but do not contain
hemoglobin.
Its primary function is to protect the body from diseases caused by
bacteria, viruses and other foreign substances.
PLATELETS ( Thrombocytes)
Small cell fragments used in clotting mechanism.
Releases chemicals necessary for blood clotting.
Help stop bleeding of wounds.
E. Generalization
Blood was considered the ‘’essence of life’’ because the uncontrolled loss of it can
result to death. Known also as a ‘’ river of life” because it is the medium of
circulation in our body system. Blood performs many functions essential to life and
can reveal much about our health.
