While Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been around for
decades to a certain degree, only in the past few years has
the playing field of AI startups grown significantly. It has
been said the global market for AI has now exceeded a
billion dollars with tech giants racing to acquire as many of
them as possible as they attempt to reposition themselves
as an AI company also.
The market itself seemingly attunes itself to a higher
knowledge entry level. Buzzwords like “machine learning”,
“deep learning” and “neural networks” top the list if deep
though taglines adding a bit of confusion to consumers and
investors alike. If someone has little background in this
space, it can be hard to separate the industry leaders from
the fancy snake oil promotors.
Game

algorithms
Cortica is unique amongst the others in that it uses their
own proprietary algorithms that, unlike the ‘blackbox’ (only
the vendor knows the design) that companies use to
interpret data, Cortica uses transparent and verifiable
algorithms.
Cortica also uses another unique design in a branch of AI
research called unsupervised learning. Many of the AI
companies on the market today must rely on algorithms
that are taught by humans regarding both characterization
and representation of whatever was being learned. This by
far is a slow and tedious process with anything novel being
revealed anytime soon as being a stretch.
 
Cortica on the other hand, using their unsupervised learning
algorithms, can learn, classify and represent things without
any human guidance.
Who
is
Cortica
Founded in 2007 at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology,
Cortica’s roots were in combining neuroscience with
developments in computer programming. The three original
founders, Igal Raichelgauz, Karina Odinaev and Yehoshua
Zeevi, began to create AI technology possessing the ability
to disseminate and interpret vast amounts of visual data
with accuracy not yet seen to date.
They called this technology Image2Text, which was based
on their digital replication of a neural cortical networks
ability to isolate and identify complex patterns within an
extensive number of cryptic or enigmatic data sources.

really is big
Cortica’s portfolio AI software can be applied to the
automotive, media, smart city and medical industries.  Each
of these industries produce enormous amounts of data in a
short period of time. This is where Cortica excels as the
premium AI solution.
Industry experts claim that autonomous-driving industry
alone will be worth up to $7 trillion US, with each vehicle
producing upwards of 4,000 GB per day. Even surveillance
data produced by cameras will generate near 2,500
petabytes of data daily. This is where Cortica operates
without issue at extremely high-volume rates.

Autonomous AI
Cortica’s Autonomous AI can interpret multiple inputs of
data (cameras, information data, drones, satellites etc.) and
construct a predictable action, response or solution to a
particular situation or a problem that is presented.
Simply put, all the data coming into Cortica’s AI program,
whether visually or direct input, will be interpreted by the
unsupervised algorithms instantly and responded to in kind
as quickly as possible.
This ability to respond instantly from disseminating vast
quantities of data is the result of deep research on
segments of rat brains. The software itself is based on the
electrical signals and reaction to stimuli that a rat’s brain
experienced. This is the neural network research component
completed to mimic a brain and combine this into the
developmental application program. The software will learn
over time the same way humans do, through experience
rather than instruction.
As opposed to other AI systems incorporating “deep
learning” networks that will hardwire information into the
system, Cortica’s Autonomous AI system picks up new
stimuli and form appropriate reactions to them. The correct
reactions are then stored for the future.
This does not leave Cortica’s AI system totally reliant on
programming alone. For now, human intervention is always
the first line of defense. If the system does make a mistake,
the file where a particular judgement was made is traced
and remedied. As an example, let’s say the system
incorrectly anticipated as car pulling out of the driveway.
The programmers would trace this file and made
adjustments accordingly.
A brief look at
Automotive AI
Cortica has branched out into an automotive division known
as *Cartica. The technology devoted to autonomous driving
alone is significant enough and groundbreaking enough to
dedicate to this vertical. With over 10 years of revolutionary
technology based upon biological research and
development, the Autonomous AI system is disrupting the
automotive market, having launched a completely new AI
paradigm for safer, more effective driving.

Cartica’s AI is as robust as it is unique. By translating video
into light signature files, the Cartica AI, analyses and
understands the vehicles surroundings. Using Autonomous
AI as its core, the Cartica AI platform is designed for the
next generation of intelligent driving. As far as industry

Cortica’s Autonomous AI is also a leader in picking up on
behavior patterns of people. The AI looks for ‘micro-
expressions’, twitches or mannerisms that can reveal a
person’s nefarious intentions. This software can be
packaged and used in camera surveillance of high traffic
and critical locations, whether they are valuable culturally,
militarily or where there would be a need to monitor human
activity specifically.
Additionally, Cortica’s AI platform coupled with natural
language advances could one day make the monumental
shift of AI into having the fundamental pieces needed to
understand and interact with the world. This would enable a
new phase in AI research, which some have called the holy
grail of computer science; AGI or artificial general
intelligence.
AGI would be able to take in many varieties of inputs and in
turn give a variety of outputs in return. In many ways, this
mimics human interactions. Though we still have
limitations, Cortica believes that in time, their technology
may well be the vital component needed to bring about true
AGI.

Less Artificial More Intelligent

  • 2. While Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been around for decades to a certain degree, only in the past few years has the playing field of AI startups grown significantly. It has been said the global market for AI has now exceeded a billion dollars with tech giants racing to acquire as many of them as possible as they attempt to reposition themselves as an AI company also.
  • 3. The market itself seemingly attunes itself to a higher knowledge entry level. Buzzwords like “machine learning”, “deep learning” and “neural networks” top the list if deep though taglines adding a bit of confusion to consumers and investors alike. If someone has little background in this space, it can be hard to separate the industry leaders from the fancy snake oil promotors.
  • 5. Cortica is unique amongst the others in that it uses their own proprietary algorithms that, unlike the ‘blackbox’ (only the vendor knows the design) that companies use to interpret data, Cortica uses transparent and verifiable algorithms.
  • 6. Cortica also uses another unique design in a branch of AI research called unsupervised learning. Many of the AI companies on the market today must rely on algorithms that are taught by humans regarding both characterization and representation of whatever was being learned. This by far is a slow and tedious process with anything novel being revealed anytime soon as being a stretch.   Cortica on the other hand, using their unsupervised learning algorithms, can learn, classify and represent things without any human guidance.
  • 8. Founded in 2007 at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Cortica’s roots were in combining neuroscience with developments in computer programming. The three original founders, Igal Raichelgauz, Karina Odinaev and Yehoshua Zeevi, began to create AI technology possessing the ability to disseminate and interpret vast amounts of visual data with accuracy not yet seen to date.
  • 9. They called this technology Image2Text, which was based on their digital replication of a neural cortical networks ability to isolate and identify complex patterns within an extensive number of cryptic or enigmatic data sources.
  • 11. Cortica’s portfolio AI software can be applied to the automotive, media, smart city and medical industries.  Each of these industries produce enormous amounts of data in a short period of time. This is where Cortica excels as the premium AI solution.
  • 12. Industry experts claim that autonomous-driving industry alone will be worth up to $7 trillion US, with each vehicle producing upwards of 4,000 GB per day. Even surveillance data produced by cameras will generate near 2,500 petabytes of data daily. This is where Cortica operates without issue at extremely high-volume rates.

Cortica’s Autonomous AI can interpret multiple inputs of data (cameras, information data, drones, satellites etc.) and construct a predictable action, response or solution to a particular situation or a problem that is presented. Simply put, all the data coming into Cortica’s AI program, whether visually or direct input, will be interpreted by the unsupervised algorithms instantly and responded to in kind as quickly as possible.
  • 15. This ability to respond instantly from disseminating vast quantities of data is the result of deep research on segments of rat brains. The software itself is based on the electrical signals and reaction to stimuli that a rat’s brain experienced. This is the neural network research component completed to mimic a brain and combine this into the developmental application program. The software will learn over time the same way humans do, through experience rather than instruction.

As opposed to other AI systems incorporating “deep learning” networks that will hardwire information into the system, Cortica’s Autonomous AI system picks up new stimuli and form appropriate reactions to them. The correct reactions are then stored for the future. This does not leave Cortica’s AI system totally reliant on programming alone. For now, human intervention is always the first line of defense. If the system does make a mistake, the file where a particular judgement was made is traced and remedied. As an example, let’s say the system incorrectly anticipated as car pulling out of the driveway. The programmers would trace this file and made adjustments accordingly.

All this while interpreting upwards of 4,000 GB of data daily.
  • 21. Cortica’s Autonomous AI is also a leader in picking up on behavior patterns of people. The AI looks for ‘micro- expressions’, twitches or mannerisms that can reveal a person’s nefarious intentions. This software can be packaged and used in camera surveillance of high traffic and critical locations, whether they are valuable culturally, militarily or where there would be a need to monitor human activity specifically.

Additionally, Cortica’s AI platform coupled with natural language advances could one day make the monumental shift of AI into having the fundamental pieces needed to understand and interact with the world. This would enable a new phase in AI research, which some have called the holy grail of computer science; AGI or artificial general intelligence. AGI would be able to take in many varieties of inputs and in turn give a variety of outputs in return. In many ways, this mimics human interactions. Though we still have limitations, Cortica believes that in time, their technology may well be the vital component needed to bring about true AGI.
