ColorBlaze Designed in a rugged extruded aluminum housing, each fixture features attached mounting brackets, each with three, 1/2-inch (1.3 cm) mounting holes for use with Cheeseborough clamps or pipe clamps. Locking knobs located on the mounting brackets allow for 180° rotational adjustment and locking without the use of special tools.

Editor's Notes
- Over the years since the initial development of the LED we have seen many applications emerge. From single color indicators as shown here to lighting applications today, LEDs continue to march up the luminance curves and with each improvement become viable for yet another application. In fact, today, we believe that for color generation, LEDs are viable for just about every application with the exception of some very high output systems. General illumination is the next step.
- Conventional electric lighting sources have been with us for decades and, in some cases, well over a century. Each have issues for applications and most people are familiar with the advantages and disadvantages of these light sources. There are a number of advantages for solid-state or LED lighting. LEDs last a very long time. We’ll talk later about how lifetime is defined. [Essentially read the list]
- In an example of cost savings associated with LED lighting systems we have several case studies. In the first, Boat House Row in Philadelphia, LEDs replaced incandescent sources and energy and maintenance savings were on the order of $57,000/year. This was calculated by the designers and engineers associated with the project. In the second example, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas replaced a metal-halide system with an LED system. By the way, this 10 story hotel is lit from the ground with LED fixtures. This often makes people realize how far these little dim lamps have come! The HRH had high costs associated with their existing metal halide systems including energy and maintenance and sees about $40K savings annually.
