Learning Cell
• Peer learning group for professional development.
• Small group of 4-6 persons.
• Has an umbrella theme but its detailed topics are created in open fashion.
• The group meet on regular basis for 2-4 hours per session.
• Can supplement a bigger training process or can be run as a separate
process.
• Can be run without an facilitator or coach as self-organised group. The group
might, however, need some advice and guidance when starting the group.

Operating Conditions of a
Learning Cell
• Openness.
• Trust and confidentiality.
• Balanced listening and talking.
• Using “I” or “My” as opposed to talking in generic terms. Discussions about
real life, projects, things learnt, not about generic issues.
• More questions, less advice.
• The discussions are about learning from each other, not to prove one’s point.

• Check-In. Everyone talks on their turn.
• Planning the agenda of the meeting. Discussing on
the topics to be covered.
• Carrying out the agenda.
• Making a summary of the meeting. A short
discussion and a 5-point memo is fine.
