1) The document discusses introducing leafy brassica crops to India from Southeast Asia to address nutritional gaps and improve farmer incomes.
2) Leafy brassicas are rich in nutrition and could be introduced into suitable environmental niches in India, as oil palm was successfully introduced to Malaysia and Indonesia.
3) Vertical farming of leafy brassicas could help utilize space and water efficiently for nutrition and farmer prosperity in wet and humid regions of India.

Conclusions
• There is a big gap in the quantity and diversity of leafy vegetable crops
consumed in India and in the South East Asian countries.
• Leafy brassicas, being rich in nutrition, could be a target of introduction into
relevant environmental niche in India.
• In the context of crop introduction, the introduction of oil palm in Malaysia
& Indonesia and the successful development of tropicalized sweet-corn
hybrids in Malaysia could be examples for India to follow.
• Vertical farming of leafy brassicas, that economizes on space and water use,
especially in the wet tropical and humid sub-tropical agro-climatic zones in
India, could be a way of bringing about nutritional balance in the Indian
diet and prosperity to the farming community.
