Glycemic Index (GI) Testing Traditional Medicine Environmental Technology
Technology Development in TP Environmental & Food Technology Material Science & Engineering Biomedical Science & Technology Clean Energy / Fuel Cell Interactive Digital Media / Future Media Test-Bedding Lead Circles 15 April 2011
Partnership with Industry Consultancy and Joint R&D Project Academic schools such as Applied Science, Engineering and Informatics & IT. Clean Energy Center, which also hosted the Singapore Fuel Cell Community (FCC), initiated by EDB. Interactive Digital Center Asia (IDCA) - A strategic partnership among TP, IM Innovations Pte Ltd and global technology companies. Lead Circles 15 April 2011
Improving Productivity through Collaborative Partnerships Competency Projects Glycemic Index (GI) - research A collaborative clinical study with Changi General Hospital on the “determination of glycemic index of walnut and blueberry muffins among type 2 diabetic subjects (non-insulin requiring) An intervention study with Singapore Sports Council on “the effect of ingestion of low GI carbohydrate meal on satiety and exercise performance in fasting athletes” On-going study on GI of 100 local foods in collaboration with NUS/A*STAR/HPB On-going study on glycemic effect of herbal tea in type 2 diabetics with SME On-going study to test GI of different varieties of rice for SME
Competency Projects Glycemic Index (GI) – product development Developed and commercialised first low GI white bread for SME Developed a low GI meal (fried rice & beverage) for Singapore Sports Council Product development of local low GI foods (baked items, noodles, beverages, ready-to-eat foods, ice-cream) Development of low GI recipes for ‘Youth can cook’ cookbook with low GI ingredients in collaboration with HPB
Competency Projects Traditional Medicine (TM) Assisted 8 local SMEs a year in the modernisation of TM Carried out chemical profiling of TM using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and setting quality specifications TM products with consistent quality ensures efficacy Enables companies to target better educated discerning consumers and the export market
Productivity Productivity Competency Project(s) Environmental Technology Waste Recycling Recycling of waste materials like fly ash, lignocellulosic materials (e.g. wood) and plastics as building materials Less waste disposal cost More revenue from recycled products Water Recycling Design of water treatment system for recirculation of water in industrial systems, e.g. aquacultural farms Less water requirement Less waste disposal cost
