The document discusses the author's sustained investigation project exploring how to represent the experience of having ADHD through photography and photo manipulation. They took photos showing movement and contrast to depict the constant movement, wandering mind, and difficulty focusing that people with ADHD face. The author experimented with manually manipulating photos by cutting and weaving paper, revising photos in Photoshop, and shooting through different objects. They selected their best pieces that conveyed feelings like "getting stuck in the head" and represented challenges of ADHD through hierarchical photos, leading lines, dramatic lighting, and movement blur.
Leo Xiong created a portfolio exploring how architecture can be used to represent the necessity of a Third Place through digital media. Their portfolio included analyzing characteristics of Third Places like cafes and bus stations, designing original Third Place structures using software, and creating a final Landscape Pavilion project on an elevated terrain. Their advice for future AP art students emphasized enjoying the creative process over outcomes and focusing on self-improvement rather than comparisons to others.
Olivia created a sustained investigation exploring one-sided love through blackout poetry and Greek mythology imagery using watercolor pencil and cut paper. As her feelings changed over time for the unrequited affection, her artistic focus and techniques evolved from using copied text and watercolor to cut paper and digital images. She provides advice to future AP students to not worry if pieces are "experimental" and to ask for help from others.
John created an AP art portfolio exploring the passion in sports and how it is not purely for fan entertainment. He began with repetition of shapes and contrasting colors, then experimented with backgrounds, shapes inspired by artist Victoria Siemer, and the threshold filter. His 15 pieces show athletes' emotions through shapes, colors, repetition, and isolation of subjects. His best works use circles and inverted circles to draw the eye, cool colors and fog to depict eerie mountains, brightness on a player to highlight emotion, increased warmth on a dolphin photo, and rectangles/outlines to explore figure-ground relationships. He advises future students to experiment, avoid procrastination, and have fun being creative.

She conducted interviews and photoshoots to depict each type's traits, conflicts, and motivations. Monica experimented with techniques like lighting, composition, and color to effectively communicate each unique personality. She revised her works to better emphasize inner types through proportion, texture, and figure-ground relationships. Monica improved her investigation by adding an adult subject and tying her work together from herself to her mother, who greatly motivates her. Throughout, she utilized research, props, and editing apps to portray characteristics and driving forces that set each person apart within the enneagram framework.
This artist explored using chiaroscuro techniques with different materials to portray memories of family members from their hometown. They began with charcoal drawings and oil paintings using strong contrasts of light and dark. They then introduced portraits in monochromatic color and enriched one work to depict themselves older to better represent clearer memories. Later works experimented with watercolor glazing, pastels, and monoprinting to capture the feeling of old memories in a new way. The artist reflected on improving their skill at using contrast to create an illusion of depth and making distant memories feel fresh again.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.
