Show more

Edward De Vere
The authorship of all of Shakespeare s genius literature is the biggest detective story. It is one that has
brought curiosity to the world for centuries and is still very alive today. Has a man who had no
evidence that he had ever gone to school, composed brilliant pieces of literature known to all of
mankind? It is highly unlikely. There must have been someone else. Scholars are now speculating as
to whether Edward De Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, is the true author of all of Shakespeare s
publications,
Edward De Vere was born in the Hedingham Castle. One of his tutors at the time was Laurence
Nowell, who owned a copy of Beowulf. In 1558, Edward De Vere attended Cambridge and Oxford
University in 1566. Another tutor of his was Queen Elizabeth s ... Show more content on

However, William Shakespeare never claimed the publications. Neither did Edward De Vere, but that
was because he would be looked down upon.
I have read many of the reasons as to why the 17th Earl of Oxford depicts a better candidate for these
writings. The same has been done for William Shakespeare. It isn t likely that a person who is
uneducated and without experience, to write literature with as much intellect as they all contain.
Edward De Vere was a graduate at the age of 14. A man with that much genius must have published
something in his life. It would ve been a shame if he hadn t.
I think it is as clear as day for people to see why Edward De Vere was the author of all Shakespeare s
literature. He was experienced and intelligent. He traveled to places in which Shakespeare s plays take
place and he had an abundance amount of knowledge about the lives of those living with a high status.
Experts state that many of the publications can be matched to a certain event in Edward De Vere s

A Beautiful Day In My Life
Five more minutes, I groaned as I layed in my bed one cloudless Monday morning while my mom
annoyingly stood in the doorway of my room, rapidly clapping her hands to wake me up. How late
were you up last night? she questioned as she resiliently clapped. Applications and essays, I told her as
I rolled out of bed. Still working on Georgetown. Georgetown?! It s already been three weeks! I know,
I know. I m putting a lot of effort into this. After all, this is my life, is it not? Although this is a lot of
work... She looked at me as if I had some sort of careless attitude. She was right though; I did. I got
ready for school, went downstairs, and gazed out the window in the living room to see the gorgeous
sunlight shine through the skyscrapers. Beautiful view, I remarked as my mom walked down the open
riser staircase. The tall towers that were scattered across Manhattan stood right in front of my window.
I walked towards the kitchen and grabbed an apple from the fridge. I m very glad you picked this one
out of all the apartments we looked at. Me too, Lucas, my mother assured as I cleaned the alluring
apple under the running faucet on the island, me too. I took a bite into the crisp golden apple. She
asked, Ready for school? Yeah, I guess, I responded. Adios. I sluggishly hauled my five ton backpack
and pulled open the decorative wooden door. Bye! * * * I came home at 2:45 to an hour s worth of

Theme Of Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf
The story by Virginia Wolf universally illustrates the struggle for life and death. It is a common phrase
that death is inevitable the story shows the struggles with life that are not won in the end. In The Death
of the Moth, Woolf observes a moth flying against a window pane, seemingly trying to get to the
outside world, and not aware that the window pane is blocking its way. There is truth in saying the
only commonality between lives is the inevitability of death. The Death of the Moth by Virginia Woolf
explores this theme. Although the thesis is never formally stated, it can be interpreted to be that death
is inescapable, and in spite of life being an uphill battle, it can never be won as eventually death
claims us all. Taking into account Woolf s personal life, which was plagued with bouts of mental
illnesses, ultimately resulting in her suicide; this essay could be considered a comparison between her
own life and the moth s. This essay is intended for the general public, but it particularly resonates with
women and minorities, this is because of Woolf s description of the moth s battles. In retelling the
moth s struggles the audience develops a certain bond with the moth, this is amplified for people who
have been repressed, as they can relate to the hardships this looked down upon moth has endured.
The author has a pessimistic view on life and death which is manifested in the tone. Woolf is clear on
her view that life is just one battle after another, and that

Rosalind Franklin Essay
Rosalind Franklin
As hard as is it is today for women to succeed in the sciences, one must give kudos to those that came
before us. These are the women that paved the way for today s generation of women scientists. One
such woman is Rosalind Elsie Franklin, a chemist who had a great impact on the modern day field of
genetics.
Rosalind was the second of five children. She was born on July 25, 1920 in London. The Franklin s
were an upper class family who lived a life of luxury. Rosalind never even had to go to school she
would have been provided for from her family s wealth. As a child, she never felt like she was
understood. She hated pretend games and did not play with dolls. Rosalind had to find the facts behind

Her Research at BCURA focused on how coal could be used most efficiently. Based on this research,
she earned a Ph.D. from Cambridge in 1945 (McGrayne, 1993). To better understand the complex
crystals in coal, Rosalind started using x ray crystallography. She became an expert at using this
technology.
In 1947, Rosalind moved to France. These years were the happiest of her life. She traveled Europe
extensively and had fun with friends. While she was in the prime of her life and could have been
married with a family, she chose not to. Rosalind loved children and would not have someone else
raise them. This commitment was not enough to make her give up her true love science.
Rosalind headed back home to England in 1950. A physicist, John Randall of King s College, invited
Rosalind into his research group. He told her that her sole project would be to investigate the structure
of certain biological fibres, meaning DNA. This is where a man named Maurice Wilkins first entered
the picture. He was also a research associate in this group and played a controversial role later in
Rosalind s life (McGrayne, 1993).
While at King s, Rosalind discovered much about DNA. Working with her graduate student, Raymond
Gosling, she took the X ray photographs that would eventually lead to the helix theory of DNA. But
she also made other key discoveries. First, she determined that DNA was found in two distinct forms,
the wet and dry forms. Gosling had photographed the dry

Effects of Outsourcing
What is outsourcing? We have all heard the term thrown around but what does it really mean?
Outsourcing is defined as contracting, sub contracting, or externalizing non core activities to free up
cash, personnel, time, and facilities for activities where the firm holds competitive
advantage(BD,09).Outsourcing happens when company s choose to purchases their needed products
and or services from an outside supplier ( mainly other countries), rather than doing the same work
within their own facilities.
Why companies outsource.
The main reason companies outsource is because it saves them money. Many different types of jobs
are outsourced, IT, telecommunications, auto manufacturers, physicians and so on. Outsourcing by

Everyone in this America knew that not only had this particular airline close, but so had three others in
a matter of a couple of weeks. But when I called my credit card company the man on the other end of
the phone had no idea of what I was talking about. He even tried to argue with me about the situation.
I then realized that this person wasn t in America and when I asked him where he was located he
quickly told me that I needed to write a letter and send it to the address on the back of the card and
disconnected the call. I was upset about my travel plans being canceled but I was even more upset that
I had to deal with all of that mess. After all of that I cancelled the credit card and when they asked why
I explained to them that I didn t agree with their employment decisions. I realize that me cancelling
my credit card isn t going to change the way that particular business is done, but I felt better about it.
Outsourcing causes consumer frustration and disappointment. It is shameful for American companies
to turn their backs on the American worker just to save a little money.
How can outsourcing be stopped?
Many people insist that there are no clear cut ways to stop the issue of outsourcing, while some people
offer up ideas on how company s could still keep the majority of their work in America while still
outsourcing. Outsourcing has become the wise thing to do in business now days and with these
economic times, it is only going to

Sylvania Campus Buildings
The purpose of this project is to survey the Sylvania Campus s buildings and to briefly provide some
major solutions.
The Sylvania Campus was opened in 1968, southwest Portland between Tigard and Lake Oswego. It is
the oldest and the largest of the Portland Community College Campuses. According to www.pcc.edu,
each year the campus receives 30,049 students, it has 10 buildings that provides many different
features and programs. For example, a fitness place includes a swimming pool MakerSpace for
students to create anything their minds envision, and an art theater. Figure 1

4.0 Rehabilitation and Construction
We will request to Portland Community College to pursue a strong rehabilitation of Sylvania campus,
because it presents a danger for our community in case of an emergency. PCC authorities should
consider this fact and take it seriously. Therefore, the rehabilitation of those buildings would be a
wonderful idea and will make Sylvania campus a safe place.
The reconstruction will be about replacing half of the concrete used by the materials we proposed.
5.0 Conclusion
In conclusion, this was the survey that has been done at Sylvania Campus s buildings by the Makasi
Construction. Sylvania is a beautiful campus that received many college students, but its structures
present a danger in case of an earthquake. The excessive used of concrete in construction makes them
fragile and easy to collapse in case of an emergency. Therefore, materials like woods and bricks will
help Portland Community College to rehabilitate its buildings for a safe and better place to

Is the Uks Constituition Becoming Increasingly Codified Essay
The British constitution has become increasingly codified, discuss.
A constitution is a set of rules that defines the manner a country is run. The British constitution is said
to be an unwritten constitution, more accurately it is uncodified as much more of the British
constitution is written down, however, they are not all written down in a single document like a
codified constitution would require as how the US is, however draws from several different sources
such as; statutes laws, common law, conventions, EU laws, authoritative documents etc. Statute law, is
a written law passed down by parliament for example the human rights act of 1998 which brought the

Article 6 (Fair Trial), all citizens are to be tried fairly and equally in a court of law, and are presumed
innocent until proven guilty. Article 12 (Marriage and Family), all men and women have the right to
marry and start a family. Another example that could be used is Devolution for Scotland, Wales and
Northern Ireland as much of it has the character of fundamental law, it has limited the powers of
Westminster it contributes to the case that the British constitution has become more codified in the
sense that it is more rigid and hard to change because it is derived through referendums, defying this
means that the government is against the wish of the people.
Another statute that supports that indeed the British constitution is becoming more codified is the
2005 constitutional reform act which separate the judiciary form the executive and legislature by
creating a supreme court court which more adopts the idea of separate powers mostly found n codified
constitutions like the US for example , it also took over the judicial work of the house of lords,
establishing the judicial appointments commission. The prospect of a coalition government in 2010
opens up the discussion even more as it led to the coalition agreement for stability and reform and
called for constitutional clarification by the cabinet secretary, which demonstrates that indeed the
constitution is becoming more codified as

You Fly off your bike and hit your front teeth on the ground chipping both of your beautiful front
teeth. How are you going to fix this? I have a solution. Dental bonding is a type of cosmetic dentistry
that permanently attaches dental materials to the teeth by using adhesives and a special curing light.
Dentists use tooth colored composite to restore chips or cracks. Also to fill cavities, close gaps
between your teeth and repair worn down edges of your teeth. Dentists are the ones who do the direct
composite bonding which means that the procedure is usually done in one dental visit. Dental bonding
does not require any impressions or temporaries. First the dentist will place a plastic coating on the
front of the teeth. Then they will place a bonding agent, colors it according to the color of your teeth,
and shapes it. Then a light called the curing light is shined through the plastic that causes it to harden
and makes the surface look shiny and polished. Then a thin layer of etch is placed on your teeth to
make little fine holes in the enamel of your teeth. This is so the resin can stick to your teeth very well.
Then many coats of composite resin are placed on your teeth

History Of The Clarinet Essay
The clarinet is a woodwind instrament consisting of a cylindrical wood, metal, or ebonite pipe with a
bell shaped opening at one end and a mouthpiece at the other end, to which a thin reed is attached. The
clarinet has five different sections, the mouthpiece, the barrel, the upper section, the lower section, and
the bell. The length of the entire instrument is 60 cm long. The mouthpiece section consists of a
slotted cylinder, to which a reed is attached by a metal clamp called a ligature. The mouthpiece plugs
into the next section which is a barrel. The barrel is simply a connecting cylinder to which the
mouthpiece and the upper section plugs into. The upper section is a cylindrical pipe consisting of 4
holes and 9 keys placed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the mid eighteenth century, the five key clarinet became standard. In 1844, the clarinet was further
revised into what we know of it today.
Around the beginning of the eighteenth century, a German instrument maker, Johann Christoff Denner
invented the clarinet by improving the chalumeau. He did this by doubling the length of the
chalumeau and adding two keys. The clarinet slowly acquired more keys during the eighteenth
century. By 1750 the five key clarinet was the standard. In 1844, two french musicians, Louis
Augustine Buffet and Hyacinthe Klosé made the most significant improvement in the instruments
history. They applied the Boehm flute key system to the clarinet. This was done by placing each hole
in different places so that each note would have the same tone quality. Then, they devised a key
system that would cover all the holes. The improvements were a success, and the newly revised
instrument became popular all over the world.
The clarinet produces sound when air passes over the reed. The reed then vibrates, causing the flowing
air to vibrate, thus producing sound. The air then exits the nearest opening. The farther the air travels
before exiting, the deeper and lower the note will be. To produce a wide variety of notes, the clarinet
has many keys and holes. Pressing different combinations of keys will result in different notes.
Since the clarinet is a very

Ashley Merryman Losing Is Good For You Analysis
In Losing is Good for You , Ashley Merryman instills the idea that society celebrates the essence of
success that children achieve in any aspect of their life whether they deserve it or not. Merryman
further explains that by celebrating success or, more importantly, the idea that every child is a winner,
society takes away the fundamental ideas of hard work. Merryman states that as society limits the
opportunity for children to experience failure, this leads to the destruction of the core beliefs of what
is the true meaning of winning is and undermines overall determination, and it lowers the desire for
children to work hard. Overall, I support Merryman s claim that society rewards all participants
despite their qualifications to hold the title of a winner . Today the term winner has become a cliché
where people have driven the idea of success to the brink of extinction. Meaning, that society has over
produced the idea of a winner to the extent that some other title would have to replace the phrase
Congratulations, you are a winner . Personally, I believe that Merryman demonstrates the effect that as
children are constantly provided trophies, certificates, and other methods of reward, each of these
materials tend to tamper with the foundation of the meaning of being a true victor. Merryman states
that, nonstop recognition does not inspire children to succeed. Instead it causes them to under achieve;
with this statement, Merryman shows the key idea that as children

How Did The Second Industrial Revolution Affect Society
The Second Industrial Revolution tremendously helped our society become what it is today. Before it
occurred, the universe was believed to work like a machine. It has reshaped society through the

inventions that hurt society. Although the Second Industrial Revolution has led to poor thoughts, it has
made our society extremely advanced because of new social thoughts, inventions made by people, and
different advances in human rights. The social classes and thoughts immensely changed during the

uncontrollable happenings in their lives.
The murder of Harry s parents in the opening of the story causes Harry to become an instant infant
orphan. He is left on the door step at the home of his mother s sister by a close friend of Harry s
parents. Much like a baby who is dependent on others for survival, events in a person s life can leave

Positive Role Models Are Those Who Possess The Qualities...
Positive role models are those who possess the qualities that I would love to have and even improve
on. They are those who have affected me in ways that make me want to be a better person in ways
such as volunteering in the community. They help me to advocate for myself when I am falling short,
help me on my steps to taking a leadership position, and even speak out on the issues that I feel
strongly about. I often don t tend to recognize positive role models until I have noticed my own
personal growth. Knowing that it really implies that it takes a positive role model to know one. Some
positive role models are teachers, clergy members, counselors and even friends.
Throughout my life, I have had many teachers as positive role models. Some teachers teach right to
the tests while others show real world examples and even visit the places that we are learning about
and that is what stands out to me. Aubrey, my core teacher in Israel, really exemplifies this and is very
committed and an amazing role model that really stands out. Aubrey taught the core curriculum I was
a part of while studying in Israel. It is an intense study of Israel and 4,000 years of Jewish history. It
comprises of many things such as engaging classroom study and even life changing trips to the sites
where history took place. My classmates and I used Israel as a living classroom to explore my heritage
and would go back in a heartbeat. What really stood out was that my teacher would sing, dance, skip,

The International Human Rights Regime Has Its Weaknesses...
Ram Chadha
HR Final Exam
The question that states that the international human rights regime does not have a hard enforcement
mechanism and until there are serious consequences to violations, states won t comply with human
rights is a topic I happen to disagree with. I realize the international human rights regime has its
weaknesses and flaws. However, these weaknesses are due to inescapable aspects of our disordered
global society, especially the principle of state sovereignty. At the end of World War II there was a
change in the internationals view towards human rights. In spite of the large human cost of their
failings, these enforcement mechanisms are fit for a purpose and that the strongest enforcement
mechanism is simply the fact that human rights are codified in international law. When discussing the
topic of compliance and legal strength of human rights instruments and tools, we are talking about
nation states. To support my claims we can look at the UN Charter based enforcement mechanisms.
There are two types of these instruments: declarations and conventions. Declarations are not legally
binding but do have political impact. Conventions are legally binding under international law. Both
declarations and conventions can become expected international law over time, which makes them
universally legally binding. A further characteristic is made between mechanisms for human rights
protection. They are known as global and regional. The legal instruments

Ignorance In The Bicycle Thieves
Humans have the tendency to romanticize many aspects of our society, be it wars, relationships, or
histories. However with this romanticism, comes ignorance, of most negative aspects of truth and
reality. This nostalgic ignorance and apathy towards those negatively affected by generally
romanticized events is the central theme of Vittorio de Sica s neorealist work The Bicycle Thieves.
This argument is created by accurate incidental music, stark contrast in shots, and fluid, human camera
tracking throughout the film.
Every background and still of The Bicycle Thieves tells its own story, via the mise en scen technique.
One of the first scenes is the pawn store scene, where Maria turns their bedsheets in order to redeem
Antonio s bike, a necessity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This realism is based in both the very human nature of the acting, as expressed in Charles Burnett s
essay Ode to the Common Man, as well as in the fluid camera movements of the film. This humanist
camera movement is best exemplified by the scene where Antonio believes Bruno to have jumped into
the river, after Antonio slapped him. The camera follows Antonio, creating an effect of truly being
there, further enhancing the realism, and therefore the thematic material as the two were linked. The
human nature is further revealed within the acting of the film, an observation made in Burnett s essay.
Her [Maria] look of disappointment is powerfully affecting. I [Burnett] often wonder if that was de
Scia or her. (Burnett). This argument is a direct proof at the argument, as the disappointment expressed
at the denial by the richer store operator, directly paralleling the apathy, if distaste of the rich towards
the society s poor. This connection however, would be completely lost if not for the inherently human
and personal performances by the

Relationship Between The Child And Parent
Introduction In the two presented books, the main theme outlined in both texts is the theme of
relationship between the child and parent. Chinua Achebe in his book, Marriage is a Private Affair
developed this theme in the marriage perception outlining the conflict which occurred between a
father and his son (Achebe 22). On the other hand, Alice Walker in her book, Everyday Use,
developed a story of family who consist of a mother and her two daughters. One of her daughters
proved to be rebellious and went against the family norms (Walker 47). This paper will outline some
of the similarities and differences in the parent child relationship in these two books. The differences
and similarities will be developed from the themes, settings and character traits of the characters of the
specific texts.
Comparison of the parent/child relationships in Everyday Use and Marriage Is a Private Affair In
comparing the relationship between parent and the child as evidenced in the texts, it clear that in both
cases the parents and the child tend to know each other perfectly. In many situations this is naturally
and as that is the first person a child interacts with. In focusing on the two texts, we find that as much
as Nene tries to convince Nnaemeka to write a letter to his father telling him about their new life, he
refuses since he knows his father better than Nene. He knows that it will shock his father and such
news should be broken through face to face conversation. The same is

A Dolls House Nora
Henrik Ibsen s play A Dolls House is a play about a woman who is living a stereotypical life and she
doesn t realize it. Nora has been forced into believing that she is happy acting as a child for Torvald
until she realizes the men around her stunted her growth as a person. Nora s husband was all about
keeping up appearances and Nora fit right into his idea of what a wife should be. Nora soon realized
that she wasn t an individual living with Torvald and she wanted more. She wanted to find out who
she was. Women were supposed to be a good wife and mother by keeping the house clean, keeping the
children happy and of course pleasing the husband as well. If a woman leaves her husband and
children for any reason she will be an outcast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

as an individual. She figures out that she wasn t really happy at all she was just acting happy. How
could she be happy when she automatically fell into the role that was made for her by Torvald and
society? She has to find her own identity and to do this she must leave her husband and children. She
loves he children but she must leave because now she has nothing to offer them. She can not teach
them anything because she doesn t know anything her self. Nora doesn t love her husband because she
doesn t know him all these years she been acting putting up a façade without even knowing it. And
Torvald was happy with the masks and fake marriage. In the start she didn t realize she had a self
because of all the male dominance in her life. If she stays in this atmosphere then she wont be able to
break our of the mold and find out who she is and become an independent woman. She decides to
leave even though the consequences are harsh. She will become a social outcast but this is all for her

Dehumanization In Blade Runner
Assigntment 3 Cities and cultures
Cities future
Zombies and androids have both been used as productive ways of imagining city futures. Develop an
argument in which you use one of these two tropes as a conceptual tool for critiquing the current
direction of urban identity, either by revealing a problem or by articulating an alternative.
Dystopian science fiction films of the past have frequently presented a critical dystopia, by projecting
future cities that perpetuates corporate capitalism s prominent features. Examples of these features are
urban decay, commodification, overcrowding, highly skewed disparities of wealth and poverty, and
authoritarian policing. An example of a Dystopian science fiction film that project cities that

It opposes the values of love, empathy and community with the innovative forms of technology and
social life under advanced capitalism. The binary opposition between man and technology is
represented by three characters in the plot: Deckard, apparently a human. Roy, an android who fears
death and longs to be human and Rachel, who thinks she is human and who enters a relationship with
a human. These replicants represent capitalism s oppressive characteristics and also to a certain extent
the rebellion against exploitation. Deckard s realization of how the Tyrell Corporation exploits him,
and the rebellion of the replicants against their oppressors, is the ultimate critique of capitalism. Since
both sides killer and killed reject their status as servants of the corporation and refuse further
exploitation. (Kellner, et all) The corporation in the Blade Runner that is used to illustrate capitalism s
destructive characteristics is The Tyrell Coporation. The Tyrell Corporation invents replicants to have
a controllable labor force that will perform difficult and dangerous tasks. Similarly applicable to today,
where capitalism turns individuals into machines that have only the function of productivity.
Ironically, the replicants form a human rebellion; while the actual human characters in the film seem
to submit to corporate domination and live a life like the corporations sees them to. It seems as if the
humans have become so dehumanized that the replicants form a rebellion against their oppressor
instead of human beings. Capitalism has dehumanized the population to such an extent, that
technology is actually more

Northern Songs Research Paper
In 1963 both John Lennon and Paul McCartney had formed Northern Songs with the help of Dick
James and Brian Epstein. Ownership of Northern Songs had been divided up with 50% going to James
and his partner Charles Silver, 20% a piece to both Lennon and McCartney, and the remaining 10% of
ownership had gone to Epstein. But in order to understand what Northern Songs purpose was, you
must first understand the details leading to its creation. In 1963, the producer of the soon to be hit
group The Beatles, George Martin had given advice to Brian Epstein to find a new and reliable
publisher seeing as EMI was doing absolutely nothing to promote the single Love Me Do . Martin had

room due to a drug overdose, he was thirty two. Following the death of Epstein, the group went on to
create Apple Corps Ltd. in hopes of fixing the mistakes Epstein had made, that limited the income of
the group and increase high tax burdens. The failing relationship between The Beatles and Dick James

Saskatoon Research Paper
The western settlement in Saskatoon did not begin until the late 1800s, to be precise 1882 when
Toronto Methodists decided to settle in rapidly thriving prairie land in the province of Saskatchewan.
Led by John Neilson Lake, the group traveled by railway from Ontario to Moosejaw Saskatchewan,
and then lastly they traveled by carriage as the railway construction yet had to be completed in
Saskatchewan. The name Saskatoon may have been derived from a Cree word Mis Sask quah
toomina, used for the local berries found in Saskatoon, now called Saskatoon berries. And thus, people
started to inhabit Saskatoon in 1883.Needless to say, Saskatoon was a very small scale community
with the population of only 113 at the starting point. The rise of Saskatoon commenced in 1890
through the routing of Saskatoon rail line from Regina to Prince Albert, which opened doors to new ...

Saskatoon s economy went downhill during the great depression in 1929. The recession lead many

Lack Of Fear In Lolita
Dr. Stanton Samenow wrote, You cannot be other than who you are. A crime that appears out of
character can be understood only by discerning what the character of the individual truly is .
Deciphering the characteristics that will identify a criminal can be very situational. Criminals actions
all depend on who they decide to be in the world around them. For law breakers like Humbert
Humbert, appeasing his pedophiliac urges becomes his main goal once setting his eyes on his landlord
s daughter, Dolores. Although Humbert recognizes the harm in his sexual affections, he can not be
other than who he is. He pursues Lolita relentlessly, gaining her trust to eventually abusive her

Although bombarded in many situations by the landlord, Charlotte Haze, Humbert manages to
sexually assault Lolita without being caught. He narrates his thoughts during the encounters and
recalls ignoring the fear of being discovered in the act. During his first sexual engagement with Lolita
he mentions that, there seemed to be nothing to prevent [his] muscular thumb from reaching the hot
hollow of her groin just as you might tickle and caress a giggling child just that (Nabokov 61).
Humbert points out that he feels nothing preventing him from touching and groping Lolita. Despite
knowing that his actions are immoral, Humbert continues them, confident enough to not fear the
consequences that could happen. This criminal thinking error Humbert shows grants him the ability to
push the boundary when advancing sexually on Lolita. After gaining full possession of now orphaned
Dolores Haze, Humbert traps her in a shared hotel room with an extensive plan to rape her. Despite
her slight stirring and growing understanding of his sly abuse, Humbert still, after a long stirless vigil ,
had no fear when moving his, tentacles towards her again, and this time the creak of the mattress did
not awake her. [He] managed to bring [his] ravenous bulk so close to her that [he] felt the aura of her
bare shoulder like a warm breath upon [his] cheek (Nabokov 130). Lolita had previously hinted at
recognizing his strange steps to get closer romantically and physically to her yet, Humbert continued
to make his moves. At this point in novel, Humbert indirectly eliminates his one true way of being
caught and reported to authorities, Charlotte Haze. Without her, displays of affection towards Lolita
could be made publically in their space without fear. Not only does Humbert Humbert show no fear
with the watchful eye of Charlotte around, but even more with

The Progression Of The Design Movement
Progression of The Design Movement There are a variety of approaches in the history of interior
design, whether it is the interior, architecture, furniture, design characteristic, concept, and history and

main principles of the art design. Moreover, one of the most important elements is the design

differences that were happened in each era, and how it developed and transmitted to another era with
an extremely huge difference. Every era has a movement that has its own design characteristic such as,

determine new elements. Art Nouveau design characteristic was mainly about asymmetry, emphasis
on decoration, organic, dynamism, and reduction. Furthermore, the Bauhaus main goal was
emphasizing asymmetry, purity, no ornamentation and plain facades. When comes to Modernism; the
International style elements were clean lines, simple, pure, smooth façade, and flat roof. On the other
hand, the Environmental modern elements were minimizing energy, recycling, elimination waste, and

Nathan Bedford Forrest During The Civil War And...
Nathan Bedford Forrest was a very influential leader during the Civil War and African American
movement. Lincoln came to power during the time around the Civil War and guided the events that
took place during that time as well. However, Lincoln had more influence over the Union because of
his leadership and position as president. Lincoln s position as president gave him more power that
Forrest would never have. Though they both had strong qualities that made them successful during
that era, Lincoln s surpassed them all. Considering each man s background, coming from a humble
family and both without an education, they became very successful and motivational symbols to the
citizens at the time. Individually, they encouraged unity and progression in the growth of the American
society.
Lincoln encouraged unity and equality, as did Forrest, but in his own way. Lincoln was a true advocate
for all races to be equal, though he agreed the white race was the superior race. I am not, nor ever have
been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black
races, that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of
qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this
that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever
forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality ... I will

Essay about The Effect of Video Game Violence on Youths
Does exposure to violence in video games, on TV, and in social media have an effect on those exposed
to it? Are those who are underage more susceptible to any detrimental side effects from viewing these
things? This has long been a topic of discussion among lawmakers, psychologists, and the scientific
field as a whole. It concerns parents and community members, especially in the wake of a seeming
rise in violence at school from bullying, fighting, or in the extreme cases of school shootings. Were
any of these types of incidents encouraged by exposure to violence in media? For the scope of this

rewarding them in game for violent activities. (Hall, Day, and Hall) Findings supporting these claims
also show that with an increase in violence comes other negative health risks such as an increased
likelihood of substance abuse, sexual activity, and obesity(Denniston, Swahn, Feldman, and Romero).
Media use, and subsequent exposure to violent content is extremely prevalent among 8 to 18 year old
children who spend, on average, 7.4 hours a day using media or computers and 80% of teens have
some type of gaming console(Denniston, Swahn, Feldman, and Romero) These claims and the amount
of media children are exposed to were concerning enough that the American Academy of Pediatrics
started making advisory statements about violent video games and media being health risks for
children in 2001. (Hall, Day, and Hall) Since then the link between violent games and violent behavior
in youths has been researched across many population groups (Denniston, Swahn, Feldman, and
Romero). The second theory revolves around any positive effects that might be gained from playing
these games (Hall, Day, and Hall). Stating that these may offer safe outlets for negative emotions and
thusly allowing players to be more emotionally balanced. (Hall, Day, and Hall) Data regarding the

Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Edward De Vere The authorship of all of Shakespeare s genius literature is the biggest detective story. It is one that has brought curiosity to the world for centuries and is still very alive today. Has a man who had no evidence that he had ever gone to school, composed brilliant pieces of literature known to all of mankind? It is highly unlikely. There must have been someone else. Scholars are now speculating as to whether Edward De Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, is the true author of all of Shakespeare s publications, Edward De Vere was born in the Hedingham Castle. One of his tutors at the time was Laurence Nowell, who owned a copy of Beowulf. In 1558, Edward De Vere attended Cambridge and Oxford University in 1566. Another tutor of his was Queen Elizabeth s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, William Shakespeare never claimed the publications. Neither did Edward De Vere, but that was because he would be looked down upon. I have read many of the reasons as to why the 17th Earl of Oxford depicts a better candidate for these writings. The same has been done for William Shakespeare. It isn t likely that a person who is uneducated and without experience, to write literature with as much intellect as they all contain. Edward De Vere was a graduate at the age of 14. A man with that much genius must have published something in his life. It would ve been a shame if he hadn t. I think it is as clear as day for people to see why Edward De Vere was the author of all Shakespeare s literature. He was experienced and intelligent. He traveled to places in which Shakespeare s plays take place and he had an abundance amount of knowledge about the lives of those living with a high status. Experts state that many of the publications can be matched to a certain event in Edward De Vere s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Beautiful Day In My Life Five more minutes, I groaned as I layed in my bed one cloudless Monday morning while my mom annoyingly stood in the doorway of my room, rapidly clapping her hands to wake me up. How late were you up last night? she questioned as she resiliently clapped. Applications and essays, I told her as I rolled out of bed. Still working on Georgetown. Georgetown?! It s already been three weeks! I know, I know. I m putting a lot of effort into this. After all, this is my life, is it not? Although this is a lot of work... She looked at me as if I had some sort of careless attitude. She was right though; I did. I got ready for school, went downstairs, and gazed out the window in the living room to see the gorgeous sunlight shine through the skyscrapers. Beautiful view, I remarked as my mom walked down the open riser staircase. The tall towers that were scattered across Manhattan stood right in front of my window. I walked towards the kitchen and grabbed an apple from the fridge. I m very glad you picked this one out of all the apartments we looked at. Me too, Lucas, my mother assured as I cleaned the alluring apple under the running faucet on the island, me too. I took a bite into the crisp golden apple. She asked, Ready for school? Yeah, I guess, I responded. Adios. I sluggishly hauled my five ton backpack and pulled open the decorative wooden door. • 5. Theme Of Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf The story by Virginia Wolf universally illustrates the struggle for life and death. It is a common phrase that death is inevitable the story shows the struggles with life that are not won in the end. In The Death of the Moth, Woolf observes a moth flying against a window pane, seemingly trying to get to the outside world, and not aware that the window pane is blocking its way. There is truth in saying the only commonality between lives is the inevitability of death. The Death of the Moth by Virginia Woolf explores this theme. Although the thesis is never formally stated, it can be interpreted to be that death is inescapable, and in spite of life being an uphill battle, it can never be won as eventually death claims us all. Taking into account Woolf s personal life, which was plagued with bouts of mental illnesses, ultimately resulting in her suicide; this essay could be considered a comparison between her own life and the moth s. This essay is intended for the general public, but it particularly resonates with women and minorities, this is because of Woolf s description of the moth s battles. In retelling the moth s struggles the audience develops a certain bond with the moth, this is amplified for people who have been repressed, as they can relate to the hardships this looked down upon moth has endured. The author has a pessimistic view on life and death which is manifested in the tone. Woolf is clear on her view that life is just one battle after another, and that ... • 6. Rosalind Franklin Essay Rosalind Franklin As hard as is it is today for women to succeed in the sciences, one must give kudos to those that came before us. These are the women that paved the way for today s generation of women scientists. One such woman is Rosalind Elsie Franklin, a chemist who had a great impact on the modern day field of genetics. Rosalind was the second of five children. She was born on July 25, 1920 in London. The Franklin s were an upper class family who lived a life of luxury. Rosalind never even had to go to school she would have been provided for from her family s wealth. As a child, she never felt like she was understood. Her Research at BCURA focused on how coal could be used most efficiently. Based on this research, she earned a Ph.D. from Cambridge in 1945 (McGrayne, 1993). To better understand the complex crystals in coal, Rosalind started using x ray crystallography. She became an expert at using this technology. In 1947, Rosalind moved to France. These years were the happiest of her life. She traveled Europe extensively and had fun with friends. While she was in the prime of her life and could have been married with a family, she chose not to. Rosalind loved children and would not have someone else raise them. This commitment was not enough to make her give up her true love science. Rosalind headed back home to England in 1950. A physicist, John Randall of King s College, invited Rosalind into his research group. He told her that her sole project would be to investigate the structure of certain biological fibres, meaning DNA. This is where a man named Maurice Wilkins first entered the picture. He was also a research associate in this group and played a controversial role later in Rosalind s life (McGrayne, 1993). While at King s, Rosalind discovered much about DNA. Working with her graduate student, Raymond Gosling, she took the X ray photographs that would eventually lead to the helix theory of DNA. But she also made other key discoveries. First, she determined that DNA was found in two distinct forms, the wet and dry forms. Gosling had photographed the dry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Effects of Outsourcing What is outsourcing? We have all heard the term thrown around but what does it really mean? Outsourcing is defined as contracting, sub contracting, or externalizing non core activities to free up cash, personnel, time, and facilities for activities where the firm holds competitive advantage(BD,09).Outsourcing happens when company s choose to purchases their needed products and or services from an outside supplier ( mainly other countries), rather than doing the same work within their own facilities. Everyone in this America knew that not only had this particular airline close, but so had three others in a matter of a couple of weeks. But when I called my credit card company the man on the other end of the phone had no idea of what I was talking about. He even tried to argue with me about the situation. I then realized that this person wasn t in America and when I asked him where he was located he quickly told me that I needed to write a letter and send it to the address on the back of the card and disconnected the call. I was upset about my travel plans being canceled but I was even more upset that I had to deal with all of that mess. After all of that I cancelled the credit card and when they asked why I explained to them that I didn t agree with their employment decisions. I realize that me cancelling my credit card isn t going to change the way that particular business is done, but I felt better about it. Outsourcing causes consumer frustration and disappointment. It is shameful for American companies to turn their backs on the American worker just to save a little money. How can outsourcing be stopped? Many people insist that there are no clear cut ways to stop the issue of outsourcing, while some people offer up ideas on how company s could still keep the majority of their work in America while still outsourcing. PCC authorities should consider this fact and take it seriously. Therefore, the rehabilitation of those buildings would be a wonderful idea and will make Sylvania campus a safe place. The reconstruction will be about replacing half of the concrete used by the materials we proposed. 5.0 Conclusion In conclusion, this was the survey that has been done at Sylvania Campus s buildings by the Makasi Construction. Sylvania is a beautiful campus that received many college students, but its structures present a danger in case of an earthquake. The excessive used of concrete in construction makes them fragile and easy to collapse in case of an emergency. Therefore, materials like woods and bricks will help Portland Community College to rehabilitate its buildings for a safe and better place to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Is the Uks Constituition Becoming Increasingly Codified Essay The British constitution has become increasingly codified, discuss. A constitution is a set of rules that defines the manner a country is run. The British constitution is said to be an unwritten constitution, more accurately it is uncodified as much more of the British constitution is written down, however, they are not all written down in a single document like a codified constitution would require as how the US is, however draws from several different sources such as; statutes laws, common law, conventions, EU laws, authoritative documents etc. Statute law, is a written law passed down by parliament for example the human rights act of 1998 which brought the European convention on human rights into British law, conventions is another ... Article 12 (Marriage and Family), all men and women have the right to marry and start a family. Another example that could be used is Devolution for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as much of it has the character of fundamental law, it has limited the powers of Westminster it contributes to the case that the British constitution has become more codified in the sense that it is more rigid and hard to change because it is derived through referendums, defying this means that the government is against the wish of the people. Another statute that supports that indeed the British constitution is becoming more codified is the 2005 constitutional reform act which separate the judiciary form the executive and legislature by creating a supreme court court which more adopts the idea of separate powers mostly found n codified constitutions like the US for example , it also took over the judicial work of the house of lords, establishing the judicial appointments commission. The prospect of a coalition government in 2010 opens up the discussion even more as it led to the coalition agreement for stability and reform and called for constitutional clarification by the cabinet secretary, which demonstrates that indeed the constitution is becoming more codified as ... For example, nascar when it was initially found in 1947 Bill France Sr. composed a meeting at the Streamline Hotel in Daytona Beach, Florida, to talk about the issues confronting stock auto hustling. I think to myself, I need to call and make an appointment to get my teeth whitened with my dentist. Teeth whitening is an example of Cosmetic Dentistry. Cosmetic Dentistry is different than regular dentistry in the sense that regular dentistry deals with oral hygiene and the prevention, diagnosing and treating of any oral diseases. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You Fly off your bike and hit your front teeth on the ground chipping both of your beautiful front teeth. How are you going to fix this? I have a solution. Dental bonding is a type of cosmetic dentistry that permanently attaches dental materials to the teeth by using adhesives and a special curing light. Dentists use tooth colored composite to restore chips or cracks. Also to fill cavities, close gaps between your teeth and repair worn down edges of your teeth. Dentists are the ones who do the direct composite bonding which means that the procedure is usually done in one dental visit. Dental bonding does not require any impressions or temporaries. First the dentist will place a plastic coating on the front of the teeth. Then they will place a bonding agent, colors it according to the color of your teeth, and shapes it. Then a light called the curing light is shined through the plastic that causes it to harden and makes the surface look shiny and polished. Then a thin layer of etch is placed on your teeth to make little fine holes in the enamel of your teeth. This is so the resin can stick to your teeth very well. History Of The Clarinet Essay The clarinet is a woodwind instrament consisting of a cylindrical wood, metal, or ebonite pipe with a bell shaped opening at one end and a mouthpiece at the other end, to which a thin reed is attached. The clarinet has five different sections, the mouthpiece, the barrel, the upper section, the lower section, and the bell. The length of the entire instrument is 60 cm long. The mouthpiece section consists of a slotted cylinder, to which a reed is attached by a metal clamp called a ligature. The mouthpiece plugs into the next section which is a barrel. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the mid eighteenth century, the five key clarinet became standard. In 1844, the clarinet was further revised into what we know of it today. Around the beginning of the eighteenth century, a German instrument maker, Johann Christoff Denner invented the clarinet by improving the chalumeau. He did this by doubling the length of the chalumeau and adding two keys. The clarinet slowly acquired more keys during the eighteenth century. By 1750 the five key clarinet was the standard. In 1844, two french musicians, Louis Augustine Buffet and Hyacinthe Klosé made the most significant improvement in the instruments history. They applied the Boehm flute key system to the clarinet. This was done by placing each hole in different places so that each note would have the same tone quality. Then, they devised a key system that would cover all the holes. The improvements were a success, and the newly revised instrument became popular all over the world. The clarinet produces sound when air passes over the reed. The reed then vibrates, causing the flowing air to vibrate, thus producing sound. The air then exits the nearest opening. The farther the air travels before exiting, the deeper and lower the note will be. To produce a wide variety of notes, the clarinet has many keys and holes. Pressing different combinations of keys will result in different notes. Since the clarinet is a very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Ashley Merryman Losing Is Good For You Analysis In Losing is Good for You , Ashley Merryman instills the idea that society celebrates the essence of success that children achieve in any aspect of their life whether they deserve it or not. Merryman further explains that by celebrating success or, more importantly, the idea that every child is a winner, society takes away the fundamental ideas of hard work. Merryman states that as society limits the opportunity for children to experience failure, this leads to the destruction of the core beliefs of what is the true meaning of winning is and undermines overall determination, and it lowers the desire for children to work hard. Overall, I support Merryman s claim that society rewards all participants despite their qualifications to hold the title of a winner . Today the term winner has become a cliché where people have driven the idea of success to the brink of extinction. Meaning, that society has over produced the idea of a winner to the extent that some other title would have to replace the phrase Congratulations, you are a winner . Personally, I believe that Merryman demonstrates the effect that as children are constantly provided trophies, certificates, and other methods of reward, each of these materials tend to tamper with the foundation of the meaning of being a true victor. Merryman states that, nonstop recognition does not inspire children to succeed. Instead it causes them to under achieve; with this statement, Merryman shows the key idea that as children ... Ram Chadha HR Final Exam The question that states that the international human rights regime does not have a hard enforcement mechanism and until there are serious consequences to violations, states won t comply with human rights is a topic I happen to disagree with. I realize the international human rights regime has its weaknesses and flaws. However, these weaknesses are due to inescapable aspects of our disordered global society, especially the principle of state sovereignty. At the end of World War II there was a change in the internationals view towards human rights. In spite of the large human cost of their failings, these enforcement mechanisms are fit for a purpose and that the strongest enforcement mechanism is simply the fact that human rights are codified in international law. When discussing the topic of compliance and legal strength of human rights instruments and tools, we are talking about nation states. To support my claims we can look at the UN Charter based enforcement mechanisms. There are two types of these instruments: declarations and conventions. Declarations are not legally binding but do have political impact. Conventions are legally binding under international law. Both declarations and conventions can become expected international law over time, which makes them universally legally binding. A further characteristic is made between mechanisms for human rights protection. They are known as global and regional. The legal instruments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However with this romanticism, comes ignorance, of most negative aspects of truth and reality. This nostalgic ignorance and apathy towards those negatively affected by generally romanticized events is the central theme of Vittorio de Sica s neorealist work The Bicycle Thieves. This argument is created by accurate incidental music, stark contrast in shots, and fluid, human camera tracking throughout the film. The camera follows Antonio, creating an effect of truly being there, further enhancing the realism, and therefore the thematic material as the two were linked. The human nature is further revealed within the acting of the film, an observation made in Burnett s essay. Her [Maria] look of disappointment is powerfully affecting. I [Burnett] often wonder if that was de Scia or her. (Burnett). Chinua Achebe in his book, Marriage is a Private Affair developed this theme in the marriage perception outlining the conflict which occurred between a father and his son (Achebe 22). On the other hand, Alice Walker in her book, Everyday Use, developed a story of family who consist of a mother and her two daughters. One of her daughters proved to be rebellious and went against the family norms (Walker 47). This paper will outline some of the similarities and differences in the parent child relationship in these two books. The differences and similarities will be developed from the themes, settings and character traits of the characters of the specific texts. Comparison of the parent/child relationships in Everyday Use and Marriage Is a Private Affair In comparing the relationship between parent and the child as evidenced in the texts, it clear that in both cases the parents and the child tend to know each other perfectly. In many situations this is naturally and as that is the first person a child interacts with. In focusing on the two texts, we find that as much as Nene tries to convince Nnaemeka to write a letter to his father telling him about their new life, he refuses since he knows his father better than Nene. Despite knowing that his actions are immoral, Humbert continues them, confident enough to not fear the consequences that could happen.
