WHY LAPTOP MAKES NOISE WHILE RUNNING.?
 It makes some constant weird or ratting noise
POSSIBLE PROBLEM
Most cases this noise is coming from the cooling
fan or hard drive.
If the fan doesn’t spin but the laptop makes noise,
probably it’s coming from the hard drive.
Remove the hard drive and start the laptop.
If the laptop still makes noise most likely it’s bad
fan.
20
WHY LAPTOP SHUTS DOWN OR FREEZES
 Laptop runs properly but after a while it freezes
or shuts down without any warning .The bottom
feels hot , also the cooling fan runs louder than
usual
POSSIBLE PROBLEM
most likely this is heat related issues.
It happens because the fan heat sink is clogged
with dust and the processor not cooling down
properly.
Cleaning the fan and heat sink from dust
should fix it
21
WHY LAPTOP TURNS ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY
 The laptop turn on without showing any image
on the screen, after a few seconds it turns off
by itself.
POSSIBLE PROBLEM
Most likely this is motherboard failure.
You can try removing memory modules one by
one test the laptop with only one module
installed .
If the laptop still doesn’t turn on, most likely
you have failed motherboard or processor.
22
KEYBOARD HAS MISSING OR BROKEN KEYS
23
24
25
26
27
 If a key separated from the keyboard ,it’s still
possible to fix it.
If you have many keys missing , probably it
makes sense to replace the whole keyboard.

HOW TO UPDATE YOUR COMPUTER’S BIOS
 It is the first software your PC loads
 Be very careful when updating your BIOS!
 If your computer freezes, crashes, or loses
power during the process, the BIOS may be
corrupted.
 This will render your computer unbootable
29
1.Find your current BIOS version
30
2. Determine your system's origins
31
3.Backup your existing BIOS first
32
4.Prepare your system
33
5. Perform the update
34
6.Restart the computer
35
7.Clear existing BIOS settings if
recommended
36
8. Configure the BIOS
37
LIQUID SPILL
38
 you spilled something on the laptop and it’s
stopped working.
POSSIBLE PROBLEM
Liquid spill are very dangerous and
unpredictable.
If it happened ,turn off the laptop asap ,
remove the battery and do not use it until all
internal parts are inspected for liquid damage .
It’s still possible to make it work again .
39
CONCLUSION
 The servicing step included in this presentation
are all thing we can our own fairly easily.
 Only thing is to follow the instructions
carefully
 A lot of what people pay to computer repair
places can be avoided if they are ready to do
these steps by themselves carefully.
 This is the computer equivalent of changing
your own windshield wiper fluid.
