Who is he?
Kyle Cooper is a famous Title Designer for the
opening and ending credits for many popular
films he has created iconic credits for over
180 film titles. In hi career he has created two
of the most popular title design companies
‘Imaginary Forces’ & ‘Prologue’. He graduated
from Yale School of Art with an M.F.A in
Graphic Design. Where he studied from his
mentor Paul Rand who was a very famous
title designer for many large companies.
What is his Inspiration?
Cooper once said that his main inspiration to
become a title designer was from Stephen
Frankfurts opening title sequence in the film ‘To
Kill a Mockingbird (1962). His main inspiration for
all his artistic work though came from his tutor
Paul Rand who according to Cooper taught him
everything thing he knows today about his job
and more, Rand taught Cooper at Yale and they
grew a friendship from this and Rand evolved
Cooper into everything he is today that links him
so highly to other legends in this career such as
Rand himself & Saul Bass. Even though Cooper
would never align himself to these two greats.
Sample of his Work
ï‚ž Seven (1995)
ï‚ž Braveheart (1995)
ï‚ž Spiderman (2002)
ï‚ž Dawn of the Dead (2004)
ï‚ž Iron Man (2008)
ï‚ž The Walking Dead (2010)
Why he Inspires me
Cooper inspires me from his profession because of his raw
talent. He knew from a young age what he was good at and
what he enjoyed doing and by combining these he has become
the most famous in his profession. Cooper is probably the most
underappreciated in film and television being consistently
unaccredited for his work but in my eyes this just makes him
better because it’s not about fame or money for him it’s just
doing what he enjoys and I believe anybody with that mind-set is
going to achieve any goal or aspiration they set themselves. If I
could do this in future life with whatever target or situation I find
myself then I would be extremely happy because it’s a mind-set
of someone that can always achieve and be at their potential, no
matter the job whether it is in Media or a Sport or a regular job it
is a key life lesson that Cooper has always achieved and that is
why he inspires me.
