KSG007 gamma log_diff

The gamma log collected at KSG007 between depths of 20-30m showed low readings and a spike, raising doubts from ONWater. A comparison gamma log from a nearby well, KSG008, showed similar features between depths of 13-23m, indicating the anomalies were likely due to subsurface geology rather than issues with the logging tools. It was concluded a rerun of the log was unnecessary.

A watershed is defined as the area of land that drains to a particular point along a stream. The boundary of a watershed is defined by the highest elevations surrounding the stream, and a drop of water falling outside this boundary will drain to another watershed. Atmospheric Aerosol Modeling
Client studies cloud formation from aerosols and needs a model to predict particle number concentrations. The model uses reanalysis data on temperature, carbon monoxide and date to predict particle concentrations over 100nm in size (N100) which are a proxy for cloud formation. A linear regression model was created relating N100 to temperature, carbon monoxide and season. It explained 29.2% of variation but underestimated high values. Improving the model by addressing non-linear relationships and outliers could increase accuracy. A web app was being developed to demonstrate the concept.
USING POLAR COORDINATE SYSTEM TO UNDERSTAND EMISSION SOURCES (2)
Polar coordinate systems can be used in air quality monitoring to identify emission sources. They represent pollutant concentration as a function of wind speed and direction, using wind speed as the distance from the origin and wind direction as the angle. This allows different sources to be discriminated based on pollutant levels observed at different wind conditions. Polar plots produced from air quality monitoring data show high concentrations when the wind is from areas where known sources are located. The approach produces correlated data, identifies sources more easily than traditional methods, and saves time over other techniques.

Abstract
Beam asymmetries and hyperon recoil polarizations for the reactions γ p → K +Λ and γ p → K +Σ0 have been measured from the threshold production to 1500MeV with the GRAAL facility located at the ESRF in Grenoble. These results complement the database for the beam asymmetry, covering for the first time the production threshold region. Recent theoretical analyses are presented for which the beam asymmetry data bring interesting new information and allow to better determine some resonance parameters. Most importantly, these results strengthen the need of a new D13 state around 1900MeV.Sputtering of Ga-doped ZnO nanocoatings on silicon for piezoelectric transducers

GW170817 and GRB170817A were detected simultaneously, originating from the same source. This provides a tight limit on the speed of gravitational waves and photons, showing they travel at the same speed to a high degree of precision. The effective field theory of dark energy provides a framework to parametrize possible deviations from general relativity at cosmological scales. It allows gravitational waves and photons to potentially travel at different speeds depending on the coefficients in the effective field theory action. The detection of GW170817 and GRB170817A from the same source places strong constraints on these coefficients and possible dark energy models.

High-energy cosmic-ray electrons and positrons (CREs), which
lose energy quickly during their propagation, provide a probe of
Galactic high-energy processes1–7 and may enable the observation
of phenomena such as dark-matter particle annihilation or
decay8–10. The CRE spectrum has been measured directly up to
approximately 2 teraelectronvolts in previous balloon- or spaceborne
experiments11–16, and indirectly up to approximately 5
teraelectronvolts using ground-based Cherenkov γ-ray telescope
arrays17,18. Evidence for a spectral break in the teraelectronvolt
energy range has been provided by indirect measurements17,18,
although the results were qualified by sizeable systematic
uncertainties. Here we report a direct measurement of CREs in the
energy range 25 gigaelectronvolts to 4.6 teraelectronvolts by the
Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE)19 with unprecedentedly
high energy resolution and low background. The largest part of
the spectrum can be well fitted by a ‘smoothly broken power-law’
model rather than a single power-law model. The direct detection of
a spectral break at about 0.9 teraelectronvolts confirms the evidence
found by previous indirect measurements17,18, clarifies the behaviour
of the CRE spectrum at energies above 1 teraelectronvolt and sheds
light on the physical origin of the sub-teraelectronvolt CREs.

When developing the "Loza" deep penetration radar, great efforts were taken to make the device's sounding depth attractive for geologists and geophysicists. Loza’s deep penetration radar has the following characteristics; ultrahigh power, signal energy concentration in the low-frequency spectrum area, large dynamic range of reflected signal recording [1], enabling the GPR to be applied in the exploration of subsurface structures to depths of 100-150 meters in heavy-textured low-resistivity soils and up to 200-300 meters in high-resistivity rocks.

This document summarizes an experimental study that measured the saturation thickness of granite and glass materials using gamma ray backscattering. Gamma rays from a 137Cs source were directed at samples of increasing thickness. The count rate of backscattered gamma rays was measured with a NaI detector and analyzed with spectroscopy software. The count rate increased linearly with thickness up to a saturation point, beyond which additional thickness did not increase the count rate. Determining this saturation thickness is important because thickness can be measured below it and density gauges operate above it. The experiment found saturation thicknesses for granite and glass, providing useful data for non-destructive testing using gamma ray backscattering.

The conclusion is that the previously observed major fractures still exist and prevented a submersible pump from being installed at 70m. A rigid hose may have helped navigate past the fractures instead of the flexible hose used.
