IRJET- Model and Structural Analysis of Two-Wheeler (Motorcycle) Rim using AN...IRJET Journal
This document describes a study that models and analyzes the structural performance of a motorcycle wheel rim made of different materials using ANSYS software. The researchers first modeled and analyzed an aluminum alloy wheel rim. They then modeled the rim using various composite materials, including polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and PEEK reinforced with glass fibers or carbon fibers. Their analysis found that composite material rims, especially those made of PEEK, experienced less deformation and lower equivalent stresses than the aluminum alloy rim under the same loads. A modified rim design further reduced stresses and deformation. The study concludes that PEEK is the best material to replace aluminum for motorcycle wheel rims as it significantly reduces weight while maintaining sufficient strength.
