Once upon a time a long time ago in ancient Greece, there lived a king named
Midas. King Midas loved three things more than anything else in the world -
his little daughter, his rose garden and gold. Nothing gave him more pleasure
than seeing his little daughter picking roses in the garden, roses she placed in
a golden vase to decorate the castle.
istana.
3
One night while strolling through his rose garden the king
stumbled over a satyr. (A satyr is a half-man half-goat.) This
satyr looked half-starved and very ill. King Midas brought
the satyr into his castle. He made sure the satyr was
washed and fed and tucked into bed for a good night's
sleep.
4
When the satyr woke up the next morning, his fever was gone. The
king and the satyr had quite a nice chat over breakfast. King Midas
was surprised to hear that the satyr belonged to the powerful god
Dionysus, the god of wine and pleasure.
That very day the king personally took the satyr home in his very
best chariot.
5
The satyr might only be a servant but he was the servant of a god
and deserved the very best treatment which was something that King
Midas would have done anyway because the king had a very kind
heart.
As it turned out, the satyr was more than a servant to Dionysus. The
satyr was his teacher and good friend.
6
Dionysus told the king he would grant any one wish that the king
made to thank him for taking such good care of his friend.
The king did not wish anything for his daughter because he had given
her everything she wanted and a whole bunch more. He also did not
wish anything for his rose garden because everyone knew he grew
the finest roses in all the world.
7
The king thought of the third thing he loved – Gold. King Midas
wished that everything he touched would turn to gold. Dionysus told
the king his wish would be granted.
When the king arrived back at his castle, he pulled out a chair to sit
down at his table. The minute he touched the chair, it turned to gold.
He touched the table and he touched a vase.
Raja memikirkan perkara ketiga yang dicintainya – Emas. Raja Midas
Sebaik sahaja dia
menyentuh kerusi itu, ia bertukar menjadi emas. Dia menyentuh meja dan
dia menyentuh pasu.
Gold!
Gold!
8
As soon as he touched them, they turned to gold. King Midas raced
through his castle.
Everything he touched turned to gold. He was so happy. He shouted
to his servants to cook him a feast in celebration. So, the servants
cooked and cooked and served him a feast.
That was when the trouble started. Everything looked and smelled
so good.
Sebaik sahaja dia menyentuh mereka, mereka bertukar menjadi emas. Raja
Midas berlari melalui istananya. Segala yang disentuhnya bertukar menjadi
emas. Dia sangat gembira. Dia berteriak kepada hamba-hambanya untuk
memasakkan dia jamuan sebagai perayaan. Jadi, hamba-hamba itu
memasak dan memasak dan menghidangkan baginda jamuan. Ketika
itulah masalah bermula. Semuanya kelihatan dan berbau sangat baik.
9
King Midas reached out and grabbed a fistful of food. As soon
as he touched the food, it turned into gold. He touched the
other foods. Whatever he touched turned to gold. He tried
leaning over and ripping a piece of meat with his teeth but that
did not help. The meat turned to gold in his mouth.
Raja Midas menghulurkan tangan dan mengambil segenggam
makanan. Sebaik sahaja dia menyentuh makanan itu, ia bertukar
menjadi emas. Dia menjamah makanan lain. Apa sahaja yang
disentuhnya bertukar menjadi emas.
membantu. Daging itu bertukar menjadi emas di mulutnya.
10
The king's eyes filled with tears and his heart was in fear. He knew if
he could not eat, he would starve. This was terrible. The king did not
know what to do and he wandered sadly out to his rose garden. His
little daughter was in the garden picking roses.
When she saw her father, she ran into his arms for a hug and she
turned to gold!
11
King Midas was grief-stricken seeing his daughter lifeless and he
cried and cried. As his tears fell on his precious roses they turned to
gold. However, the King did not care, he did not care about his roses
or his other things of gold or himself. He was heart-broken to see his
daughter, now a statue of gold! The king wailed and prayed to the god
Dionysus, “Oh God Dionysus, hear my prayer! Please take back my
wish, please take back my wish and save my daughter!”
Raja Midas berasa sedih melihat anak perempuannya tidak bermaya lalu dia
menangis dan menangis. Ketika air matanya jatuh pada mawar berharganya,
ia bertukar menjadi emas.
doaku! Tolong tarik balik hasrat saya, tolong tarik balik hasrat saya dan
selamatkan anak perempuan saya!”
12
The god Dionysus in heaven, heard the king’s prayer and appeal. Out
of compassion, Dionysus answered the king’s prayers and wish. The
king’s daughter came back to life and all the other things that had
turned to gold were restored to their actual previous condition.
King Midas was very happy – he learned a very important lesson.
He never became greedy again.
Raja Midas sangat
gembira – dia belajar satu pelajaran yang sangat penting. Dia tidak pernah
menjadi tamak lagi.

King Midas and The Golden Touch - A Story with Life Lessons (English & Malay).pptx

  • 1. 1
  • 2. 2 Once upon a time a long time ago in ancient Greece, there lived a king named Midas. King Midas loved three things more than anything else in the world - his little daughter, his rose garden and gold. Nothing gave him more pleasure than seeing his little daughter picking roses in the garden, roses she placed in a golden vase to decorate the castle.
  • 3. 3 One night while strolling through his rose garden the king stumbled over a satyr. (A satyr is a half-man half-goat.) This satyr looked half-starved and very ill. King Midas brought the satyr into his castle. He made sure the satyr was washed and fed and tucked into bed for a good night's sleep.
  • 4. 4 When the satyr woke up the next morning, his fever was gone. The king and the satyr had quite a nice chat over breakfast. King Midas was surprised to hear that the satyr belonged to the powerful god Dionysus, the god of wine and pleasure. That very day the king personally took the satyr home in his very best chariot.
  • 5. 5 The satyr might only be a servant but he was the servant of a god and deserved the very best treatment which was something that King Midas would have done anyway because the king had a very kind heart. As it turned out, the satyr was more than a servant to Dionysus. The satyr was his teacher and good friend.
  • 6. 6 Dionysus told the king he would grant any one wish that the king made to thank him for taking such good care of his friend. The king did not wish anything for his daughter because he had given her everything she wanted and a whole bunch more. He also did not wish anything for his rose garden because everyone knew he grew the finest roses in all the world.
  • 7. 7 The king thought of the third thing he loved – Gold. King Midas wished that everything he touched would turn to gold. Dionysus told the king his wish would be granted. When the king arrived back at his castle, he pulled out a chair to sit down at his table. The minute he touched the chair, it turned to gold. He touched the table and he touched a vase. Gold! Gold!
  • 8. 8 As soon as he touched them, they turned to gold. King Midas raced through his castle. Everything he touched turned to gold. He was so happy. He shouted to his servants to cook him a feast in celebration. So, the servants cooked and cooked and served him a feast. That was when the trouble started. Everything looked and smelled so good. Sebaik sahaja dia menyentuh mereka, mereka bertukar menjadi emas. Raja Midas berlari melalui istananya. Segala yang disentuhnya bertukar menjadi emas. Dia sangat gembira. Ketika itulah masalah bermula. Semuanya kelihatan dan berbau sangat baik.
  • 9. 9 King Midas reached out and grabbed a fistful of food. As soon as he touched the food, it turned into gold. He touched the other foods. Whatever he touched turned to gold. He tried leaning over and ripping a piece of meat with his teeth but that did not help. The meat turned to gold in his mouth. Raja Midas menghulurkan tangan dan mengambil segenggam makanan. Sebaik sahaja dia menyentuh makanan itu, ia bertukar menjadi emas. Dia menjamah makanan lain.
  • 10. 10 The king's eyes filled with tears and his heart was in fear. He knew if he could not eat, he would starve. This was terrible. The king did not know what to do and he wandered sadly out to his rose garden. His little daughter was in the garden picking roses. When she saw her father, she ran into his arms for a hug and she turned to gold!
  • 11. 11 King Midas was grief-stricken seeing his daughter lifeless and he cried and cried. As his tears fell on his precious roses they turned to gold. However, the King did not care, he did not care about his roses or his other things of gold or himself. He was heart-broken to see his daughter, now a statue of gold! The king wailed and prayed to the god Dionysus, “Oh God Dionysus, hear my prayer! Please take back my wish, please take back my wish and save my daughter!”
  • 12. 12 The god Dionysus in heaven, heard the king’s prayer and appeal. Out of compassion, Dionysus answered the king’s prayers and wish. The king’s daughter came back to life and all the other things that had turned to gold were restored to their actual previous condition. King Midas was very happy – he learned a very important lesson. He never became greedy again.
  • 13. 13 Beberapa Pengajaran Hidup Daripada Kisah The danger of GREED is very great. It brings much Dukkha. Bahaya TAMAK sangat besar. Ia membawa banyak Dukkha. Think mindfully and wisely before wishing or wanting anything. There are more important things in life than material possessions and wealth. Human relationships with love are necessary for happiness. With Metta, Bro. Oh Teik Bin The End Tamat
