6. KINDS OF RHYME
1.End Rhyme- the rhyming words are at the end of the
line.
Example:
a.“I think I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree”
b. “And so, all night tide,I lie down by the side
Of my darling, my darling my life and my bride”
7. 2. Internal Rhyme- rhyming words are within the line
EXAMPLE:
a.“The crows in boughs throws endless brawls”
b.“For the beams without bringing me dreams”
9. SOUND DEVICES/SOUNDS IN POETRY
1.ALLITERATION- is the repetition of the
consonant sounds at the beginning of the words
Example: “doubting, drearing dreams no mortal
enter dared to dream before”
2. ASSONANCE- is the repetition of the vowel
sounds within words
Example: “along the window sill , the lipstick stabs
glittered their steel shells”

consonant sounds within and at the end of the
words
Example: some late visitor entreating entrance
at my chamber door
4. ONOMATOPOEIA- is a sound that imitates a
sound of something
Example:The hissing of the snake made me
shoo it away.
