This document describes an inquiry project to develop and test a module on presentation skills for high school engineering students. It includes the following sections: an overview of the project timeline and process; the targeted NCTE/IRA standard; the rationale and inquiry question around directly teaching presentation skills; research on best practices; creation of instructional videos and a module; sharing the module with students; reflection on results compared to past student presentations. The goal was to determine if direct instruction on presentation skills would improve the quality of student presentations. Initial results found mean scores were higher compared to the previous year across multiple classes.
