This document provides instructions for kerf cutting a frame using SignComp's Flat Bleed Retro Frame. It outlines a 9 step process for determining cuts, marking the frame, cutting along marks, and assembling the radius corner frame. Kerf cutting is made simple through SignComp's formulas and profiles that allow cutting the frame body while maintaining structural integrity. SignComp systems provide creative design options and are suitable for applications of any size through tensioned face installation.

5. Step 1:
Turn your frame so that it is up side down with
the clip channel facing the fence.
6. Step 2:
Determine the number of cuts needed to make the
radius. To help determine how far apart the saw cuts
should be, and how many cuts to make, use the
fabricator formula below:
1 - Take the outside perimeter of the radius (OPR) and
subtract the inside perimeter of the radius (IPR). This
gives the amount of frame (F) to be removed.
(OR - IR = F)
2 - Divide the above amount (F) by the thickness of
the saw blade (S). This will give the number of saw
cuts. (C). (F : S = C)
3 - Divide the outside perimeter radius (OPR) by the
number of saw cuts (C). This is the distance needed
between saw cuts (D). (OR : C = D)
7. Step 3:
Mark the cut locations on the frame. Be sure to leave
6 - 8” on either end of the rolled radius. This will allow
for smooth transitions into straight sections.
8. Step 4:
Raise saw blade so that when you pull the blade
through the frame, the back return is not cut.
(Raise the blade approx. 1/8” to 3/16”)
9. Step 5:
Cut frame at first mark, repeat cut at each mark until
you have made a cut at each mark.
NOTE: Center to Center Cuts are rounded to the nearest 1/16”. Cuts may or may
not touch when achieving the desired radius. The built in tolerance allow for
adjustment to the radius.

Assembly Instructions:
Step 6:
Insert a 1” x 1/8” x (by length of corner frame
section),strap of aluminum into corner angle slot
of the Flat Bleed Retro Frame bottom only. (See “E”)
Step 7:
Form the frame to the radius. Once the desired
radius is achieved, tack weld the strap to the frame.
This will hold the radius. (See “F”)

Step 8:
Place radius on cabinet or steel frame work. Attach
the frame to the cabinet or steel frame work. Once
you have secured the frame to the cabinet or steel
frame work, stitch weld the bottom of the frame to
the 1/8” aluminum as required.
(Note: Significant integrity is restored to the
frame by stitch welding the strap to the
frame.) (See “F”)
Step 9:
Installation of the radius corner frame is now
complete. Repeat steps 1-3 for the remaining corner
or corners.
