Managing multiple projects can be challenging as managers risk focusing too much on one project while others fall behind. Common mistakes include setting unrealistic deadlines, relying too heavily on strong team members, and not properly estimating time or prioritizing projects. Tips for better management include tracking progress on each project, reviewing status frequently, finding lasting solutions to problems, setting internal milestones, and writing status reports.
Fire and geodemographics - Tessa Andersonguest03ecddb
1) The document analyzes variations in urban fire incidents in Cardiff, Wales using a geodemographic classification system to identify neighborhood patterns.
2) It finds that lower socioeconomic areas represented by Mosaic groups F and G have over-represented indexes for different fire types like hoax, vehicle, and building fires.
3) The study concludes that geodemographics can provide explanatory value for urban fire analysis when used alongside other spatial techniques, though more research is still needed on methodology transparency and policy implications.

Various breeds of sheep are described, including fine wool, medium wool, long wool, and hair sheep breeds. Common dairy and meat goat breeds are also outlined, such as Angora, Spanish, Boer, Pygmy and fainting goats. Production and consumption statistics for sheep and goats in Jamaica are presented. Reasons for and against entering small ruminant production are weighed.
Every student-managed farm unit presents a final report at the end of the term. This PowerPoint highlights the year's activities, analytics, challenges and recommendations from the 2016-17 sheep unit of Lakeland College's Student-Managed Farm powered by New Holland.
UrbanShepherds.org is presenting information on using ultrasound scanning of loin eye muscle to select sheep for breeding stock and to set quality standards. The document discusses the value of ultrasound for improving carcass traits like muscle depth and back fat thickness. It also proposes that a co-op could use ultrasound to measure lamb crops and ensure they meet quality requirements for selling to local markets. The goal is to help producers increase profitability by providing higher quality lamb that fetches better prices.
Rembrandt Foods has grown to become one of the largest egg producers and processors in the world through strategic vertical integration and acquisitions since 2000. It owns 14 million egg-laying hens and focuses exclusively on egg products rather than shell eggs. The company aims to be the lowest cost and most sustainable producer through efficient operations, waste reduction initiatives, and by producing more food using fewer resources. Rembrandt offers a wide range of egg products for foodservice and manufacturing customers across liquid, frozen, dried, and pre-cooked categories to meet various needs.
This document summarizes the operations of a dairy farm in 2012. It outlines the farm management team and details of the farm facilities and herd. Key metrics like milk production averages, costs of production, and income/expenses for the year are provided. This document discusses different methods of castrating male sheep and goats. It describes common castration tools and techniques like banding, clamping, and surgical removal. The effects of early versus late castration are considered, along with animal welfare concerns. A 2018 study is summarized that compared growth rates and carcass traits of intact males, castrated males (wethers), and males undergoing short-scrotum castration, finding the latter grew faster and produced leaner carcasses while remaining sterile. The document concludes short-scrotum castration may be a viable alternative to traditional castration methods.
This document discusses broiler chicken management, with an emphasis on proper brooding practices. It outlines the importance of meeting chick needs for feed, water, temperature, and air quality during brooding. Key recommendations include feeding chicks within 6 hours of placement to promote gut and immune development, maintaining proper brooding temperatures, ensuring adequate access to water, and providing sufficient ventilation to remove moisture produced by the chicks. Achieving a 7-day body weight of at least 180 grams is also highlighted as critical to future flock performance.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

Industrial Tech SW: Category Renewal and CreationChristian Dahlen
Every industrial revolution has created a new set of categories and a new set of players.
Multiple new technologies have emerged, but Samsara and C3.ai are only two companies which have gone public so far.
Manufacturing startups constitute the largest pipeline share of unicorns and IPO candidates in the SF Bay Area, and software startups dominate in Germany.
Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

2. Looking forwards, looking back..
• Our stud has been in operation for 45 years
• Some breeding decisions in this time have been
wonderful, and some, not as good as we hoped
• We now use a combination of ASBVs, genomic
breeding values, physical appearance, structure and
the knowledge gleaned from past errors and successes
to inform our current and future breeding decisions to
improve the rams we provide to you
• We then package these genetics in a well conditioned,
fertile and low disease risk ram (or ewe) for stud and
commercial clients
3. Kennedy Creek Stud Objectives
• Use worldwide best practice genetic and genomic
technologies (Lambplan/SGA) to make genetic progress
towards
– Rapid growth rate to weaning without excess adult
bodyweight
– Above industry average loin muscle
– Moderate fat level (sale rams between +0.5 to -1.0)
– Easy lambing, moderate birthweight, good lambing
ease
– Easy care, fertile sheep with low disease risk
• With excellent visual appearance, muscle shape,
reproductive measurements, mating ability & wool/skin
quality
4. Stud sires
• The following slides detail Lambplan figures
from August 2013(www.lambplan.com.au)
• All of our sale sires (or when semen is
collected) are:
– JD (Johne’s disease) MN3V (vaccinated with Gudair)
– Fully vaccinated (6 in 1)
– Brucellosis free (blood testing every 2nd
year for over
thirty years free), footrot & lice free
– Free from exotic disease (as per
www.animalhealthaustralia.gov.au)
5. Enquiries
• If you have any enquiries about sale
animal/semen/embryo availability contact:
– kennedycreek@polldorset.org.au
• You can also view our stud details at
www.polldorset.org.au/kennedycreek
• If you want any further information about
figures used refer to

6. Sires of progeny born in 2013
• The following pages show stud sires used to join
ewes for lambing in 2013 (Autumn and Spring drops)
• Sires used this year are from Kennedy Creek and
Wyndamah Poll Dorset studs
• Photos of all rams are provided (no trimming of rams
in photos – in paddock condition, often immediately
following or during joining – we believe these are the
most relevant photos to share) following data and
comments page on each sire
7. Progeny measurements
• Progeny are lambed down in groups of 50 to 100 ewes
and lambs weighed & e-tagged within 12 hours of birth
• All lambs are kept in these groups until weaning when
they are weighed (12 weeks after lambing starts)
• Separated into 1 group at weaning until early post
weaning (EPWT) data collected then run as male and
female flocks
• All animals treated alike to maximise accuracy
• Benchmarking sires used to maximise accuracy (five of
our current sires have been used in the sheep CRC INF
304/8, 44/9, 186/9, 122/10, 38/11)
8. AI – semen availability
• Kennedy Creek 44/09, 186/09, 122/10 &
38/11 available
• All sires available for collection upon request
• Wyndamah 939/08 may also be collected and
will be for physical sale in 2013. KC 304/08
also for sale.
9. Rams in use for 2012 lambing
• 2 groups of sires:
– 1. Proven sires used in previous season on farm
(10 rams)
– 2. Progeny test sires on farm
(9 rams)
TOTAL SIRES USED FOR 2013 lambing = 19 rams
• Lambing divided into autumn and spring lambing (¾ ewes in
autumn, ¼ ewes in spring). Approximately 400 ewes joined
(including 15 month old hoggets)
10. Genomic breeding values (GBVs)
• Genomic breeding values on all our rams have
been assessed
• This includes all of our progeny test sires and
some other young “potentials”
• We are excited to continue to be involved in
this to enhance data quality in difficult to
measure traits (meat quality such as
intramuscular fat, parasite resistance etc)
• These are currently used to avoid the use of
“outlier” sires eg. poor eating quality
11. Ram team –proven sires used in previous
season
• Kennedy Creek 304/08
• Wyndamah 939/08
• Kennedy Creek 44/09
• Kennedy Creek 186/09
• Kennedy Creek 13/10
• Kennedy Creek 122/10
• Kennedy Creek 19/11
• Kennedy Creek 36/11
• Kennedy Creek 38/11
• Kennedy Creek 64/11
Note: In most seasons we
commence with 6-8 progeny
test sires. This number
halves by the next year when
data on their lambs is
available. Each year after
that one or more rams in this
group are sold to maintain
our genetic gain from new
progeny test sires and keep
a low generation interval (see
next page). We retain a low
number of older sires for the
sake of good quality linkage.
