● May 2009 to May 2011. Hardware Validation Engineer
Google, Inc. Mountain View, CA 95403
I worked on the design verification of terabit/sec networking switch and
router. I lead a team of engineers to validate the design of the hardware and software. The
design validation from physical layer signal integrity measurement of high speed (Mbps
to 40Gbps) interconnection and transceivers, control plane management hardware and
software (CPUand embedded systems), power generation, power delivery, thermal verification,
interoperability validation between different networking components and systems, and
verification of the networking hardware and software in a larger networking cluster and data
center environment. Verify system performance across process variation, temperature variation,
and voltage variation. Worked with firmware engineers to enable low level hardware access and
tests. Worked with networking engineer to ensure router worked in a large network cluster in
data center. Worked with hardware design engineer to address failures and corrective actions.
Wrote test plan for a team of validation engineers and technician. Conducted meetings with
various hardware engineers, firmware engineers, networking engineers to organize design
verification efforts. Wrote tcl scripts to automate many of the system level performance
verification over temperature, over extended time.
● May 2006 to Nov 2008. Senior Staff Engineer
Luxtera, Inc. 2310 Camino Vida Roble, Carlsbad, CA 92010
Luxtera is a fabless semiconductor company involved in the design and manufacture of active
cables capable of delivering 40 Gbps, utilizing the silicon photonics chip it has developed.
Lead a group of test engineers, engineering technician, and consultants to develop production
test solutions. Implemented MSA standards requirement SFP+, QSFP, XFP, HDMI 1.3a,
DisplayPort into test plan. Designed modulator for 1490 nm laser at 10Gbps, differential
coplanar line, power control. Simulated circuits with Ansoft Designer, ADS, PSpice, Multisim,
Spectre. Capture schematics using Design Entry HDL. Wrote test software in LabWindows/CVI,
C/C++, TestStand. Analyze data using DataPower software from PDF. Develop method for
testing PDL for a photodetector using modulated light source as stimulus and FFT-ing current.
Design and built low cost test equipment based on serdes for testing 10Gbps active cable BER
and Total Jitter at 1E-12. Design and built a fully automated production test system for a multi-
rate (150Mbps- 12.5Gbps) electro optical transceiver (1490 to 1550nm) capable of measuring
