Upon first arrival at the concentration camp, prisoners underwent a selection process where the weak and ill were separated and sent to the gas chambers to be killed, while others deemed able to work were temporarily spared. Personal items were confiscated by Nazis and kept for their own use, while some prisoners had their gold fillings forcibly removed from their teeth. Those selected for death were deceived into entering gas chambers disguised as shower rooms, where they were killed using poison gas. Their remains were then cremated in the crematorium to destroy evidence.

Concentration Camp Research Paper
Concentration Camps were an imfamous event in WWII. But, not in a good way. Concentration Camps were not only the place where millions of innocent people were brutally murdered. They were so much more. During WWII, there were over 1,200 camps that were run by Nazi Germany. They were placed all over Europe and held many people of different beliefs, races, abilty, age, and religion. Hitler, the ruler over the Nazis, sent millions of people to their death to these camps. There were a few different types of camps that held different ways of handling the prisioners.
Prision camps were another different type of camp during the Holocaust. The prisioners were stored away in barracks where they were given very little food and the bunks were extremely tight and very cold. The prision camps were the best camps to be in. In the gas chambers, they lined people up and sent them into the large chambers with many others where toxic gas was was spread into the air and the prisioners were forced to stay in and breathe the air until the died. This was a very easy way to murder a large amount as fast as possible, just as the Nazis wanted. The gas chambers were just

3. Selection was the process used to weed out the week and ill from the ones that
were still able to work. This process happened when prisoners first arrived.
Women were separated from the men and formed two groups. If someone

4. Death camps were built solely for the extermination of the Jews by means of
gassing and cremating. In death camps Jews didn’t get the option to live. They
were there to be eliminated. In concentration camps Jews were either selected
to work or selected to die. “Only a small percentage was selected for labor in
the camp itself, labor in munitions plants at satellite camps, or the “medical”
experiments of Dr. Josef Mengele and his staff ” (Vashem 2015). In
concentration camps they were forced to do backbreaking work and only got

were tricked into entering these death traps. The Nazis would tell them to
strip naked in order to be disinfected but really they were going to be killed.
The Crematorium was a place the Nazis took the remains of people who
where killed in the gas chambers. They would take the remains and burn them
so no evidence was left behind (Yashem 2015).
