PSYCHODYNAMIC
PERSPECTIVE, BECAUSE
YOUR BEHAVIOR IS
CONNECTED TO YOUR
UPBRINGINGS.
Psychodynamic perspective is a way of studying systematically at human
behavior, feelings, and emotions, and how they could connect to childhood
upbringings. It is psychology that focuses on entering an individual’s mind –
contrast to behavioral psychology which studies behavior due to environment.
Sigmund Freud is the founder of the approach and he rationalized that a person’s
darkest secrets could be revealed through them by tapping into their own ‘soul’
with concentration. This explanation reveals why I confined in therapists and very
close friends to share my secrets or fears to. Things I didn’t realize I even felt
arose from this hidden level of psychodynamic perspective one finds when
keying into themselves.
PSYCHODYNAMIC
PERSPECTIVE
Ainsworth “Strange Situation” is the second
topic I thought was also very important. I have
plenty of younger cousins and have babysat
children before. I already picked up that many
children have attachment issues when they
are young. I know plenty of teens even know
that become stressed when they are
separated from their parents for too young.
Ainsworth “Strange Situation” explains the
relationship between attachment and
proximity. Babies aren’t comfortable exploring
until they feel secure and many times their
source of comfort is their mothers/caretakers.
This applies to my life because I now
understand that the hesitation many kids feel
without their caretakers is normal and
considered relatively healthy.
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN
ATTACHMENT AND PROXIMITY –

OUR BRAINS ARE LIKE
COMPUTERS, ENCODING
MEMORIES
The three types of encoding are what makes all the
information people process to be scanned,
remembered, and cataloged. The types are visual,
acoustic, and semantic encoding. Encoding is the
inputting of information into our memory banks. Visual
encoding is learning by remembering or creating a
picture in your head. Acoustic encoding is learning
through sound. Semantic is encoding by learning key
terms by recalling the personal meaning of each fact.
These types of encoding apply to my life as a student
because when I’m studying for a test, I may want to
use visual encoding to remember the subject. I can do
this by drawing a picture with the terms or things I
need to remember. When it is time to take my exam, I
can remember my picture and see it in my brain.
STRESS – THE SILENT
KILLER WITH THE MOST
SOLUTIONS
Learning about the topic of stress I think was really
important, especially to teens like me. Stress is a
psychophysiological reaction to life events, meaning
its impact is felt by both the mind and the body.
That’s so interesting because it shows that life really
is just a continuous chain and that everything is
connected in some way. Understanding stress is
important for me because now that I know the
symptoms, I can identify it quicker rather than avoid
it. Now when I’m stressed out, I comprehend what is
happening to my body and I can help myself relax.
High stress levels are dangerous but now I better
understand how to deal with it and cope.
PSYCHOTHERAPY – THE
TREATMENT THAT
WORKS
In psychotherapy, psychologists help people work through their problems
and/or disorders. They use scientific approaches – such as cognitive-
behavioral, and humanistic. Through psychotherapy, people of all ages can
be happier, become healthier, and lead more productive lives. I’ve used
psychotherapy and drug therapy to help cope with my disorder. I believe
that everyone should go to any kind of therapy because the benefits are
completely worth it.
