need to talk to some of our employees to better understand the functionality and requirements for the proposed system. This is important because they are the key stakeholders of the system. list of employees who will want to interview. learn the process for scheduling an appliance repair appointment and how the parts are obtained for those repair visits. Also, it is important to understand what reports that managers are hoping to extract from the new system. I find it is helpful to write down questions prior to your meetings as to not forget the topics that you want to cover.
My suggestion is at least 10 questions per person prior to the meeting. Make sure to use open-ended questions (at least 7 questions) to get the employees talking. Also use closed response and range of response questions. I find that each type of question can provide valuable information and are quite useful in requirements gathering.

We have previously used both the Joint Application Development technique and the Rapid Application Development technique. However, many colleagues of mine swear by the agile technique. Can simple and robust public learning experiences empower and delight people of all ages to experiment and discover the answers for themselves? The answer is yes. This talk will present examples and discuss how UX best practices can be applied to create effective inquiry-based learning experiences that unpack seemingly complex modern technologies. Through iterative design coupled with repeated visitor testing, we deconstructed the surprising perceptual science and technology behind VR and AR into 16 cool hands-on experiences that spark “aha” moments and minimize the need for wordy explanations. We keep concepts intuitive, playful, and fun to understand. Our traveling exhibition goal is to show visitors they're smarter than they suspect, inspire students to aim for STEM careers, and help teachers lead deeper NGSS and Common Core dives both in and out of the classroom. Augmented Reality is one of the view technologies that promises technological advances that enable us humans a better connection with the ubiquitous technology around us. We are not there yet to make use of such a user interface. We currently have individual islands of interactivity via AR. This conference may have many spatial demos as well, however, a single ubiquitous layer that penetrates all screens, surfaces, machines, and environments are not available. This is what the PTC Reality Lab researches. The core of this research is the ability to use AR in a scalable distributed platform to bridge among technological domains to allow the weaving of multiple technologies into one user experience. The resulting user experience is called One Reality. The goal for One Reality is to provide one seamless, ubiquitous flow of user experience for all technologies that touch the user’s decision making. This talk will iterate on the different stages of Augmented Reality User Interfaces and identifies One Reality as the 3rd stage in the evolution of AR user interfaces. Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

I want to tell you a story how Mixed Reality helped us achieving our mission to empower Industrial Machine Operators and how it kickstarted an amazing new future for people who work in our industry.
My name is Jordy van der Velde, and I work for a Dutch company called WEMO. We at WEMO manufactur fully automated production lines for sheet metal working. Basically, we create machines that form sheet metal into functional products.
A good example of a typical WEMO line is one we made this year, it manufactures steel lockers and it is 45m long.
The design is always customer specific and that’s the reason we have an unusual high customer satisfaction rate, because every customer gets exactly what they want.
However, we are still continously improving the quality of our production lines. Not just technological improvements, but also the design and the way users interact with our machines. Basically we want to be the best. And all that has to do with our company vision.
You see, we at WEMO believe that humans and machines need to work together as good as possible to achieve the highest efficiency, productivity and usability possible. The implications are that we at WEMO don’t just want to improve the quality of our machinery, we want to improve the employee satisfaction rate for the end users.
So the big question was, how can we kill two birds with one stone?
And almost instantaneously we knew Mixed Reality would have a huge added value on our production lines.
Basically all work around the machine requires the use of the Human Machine Interface, which in WEMO’s case is nothing more than a console with a screen and keyboard. Whether it is data entry, requesting the machine status or controlling the production, machine operators need to be physically near the console when they want to get work done.
If you image that our production lines can be several hundred feet long, it isn’t hard to see that constantly walking to and from a computer can become a tedious task. And we don’t want are machines to be boring to work with.
So some of you might think, well why would use Mixed Reality? Couldn’t you be just as mobile with a laptop or tablet? And that’s actually a very good question. But in reality are neither a laptop or a tablet practical, or safe. You have to imagine that these people are near a machine that is powerfull enough to bend metal. So not having both your hands free or looking at small screen and not being mindfull of your surroundings can pose some serious health risks.
Using AR Smartglasses, operators can access or enter any piece of information from wherever they are and have both hands available at all times.
But we at WEMO knew that there had to be more benefits that just mobility. ...
We added an overview of all the schedules that are relevant for the production line. Wheter it is the production schedule or the maintenanc schedule. The machine operators can now see all the tasks they have to perform and how they should perform it.
You might wonder what the benefits are for such an overview. Well, a recent study showed that augmenting instructions while performing a task decreased human errors by 90% and it took 35% time. This means that when we can achieve similar results, we can increase the quality of workers. By giving them a simple tool the end user can become more valueable for his company and he’ll get empowered by doing his job faster and better than ever before.
Nobody could have looked at a phone booth 20 years ago and imagine all the things that are possible today.
We are at the same point with Mixed Reality. We just took the step of increased mobility and we can have every piece of information at any place at any time you need it.
Altough we have many Mixed Reality projects in the pipeline we can only imagine what the future will hold. In the meantime we’ll continue our mission to increase the happiness and quality of work for everyone who works with our products. And you can count on it that Mixed Reality will play a crucial part.
