Residential fire sprinklers have been shown to effectively contain and extinguish fires, saving lives and property damage. While commercial buildings have utilized sprinkler systems for over a century, only recently have homes started incorporating them as well. Sprinkler systems can be included in new home construction or added later through retrofitting at relatively low cost. Data shows that sprinklers have controlled or extinguished fires in multi-family homes with minimal damage.
