Residential fire sprinklers have been shown to effectively contain and extinguish fires, saving lives and property damage. While commercial buildings have utilized sprinkler systems for over a century, only a small percentage of homes have them. Data shows that sprinklers were responsible for controlling or extinguishing fires in 6 of 13 multi-family housing fires in one county. The document argues that based on these benefits, residential sprinklers should be made mandatory through local building codes.
