2. Adding a few teaspoons of
baking soda to cool bath water
helps with sunburn. Soak in the
water from 15-20 minutes. If
you soak in the water for longer
then you will dry out your skin.
Do not towel dry because you
will wipe off the baking soda. It
is recommended that you air
dry. You can also add oatmeal
to your bath water. Add
oatmeal to cool water, not cold
water because you can send
the body into shock. Oatmeal is
an ideal skin soother. Use ½ to
1 cup of oatmeal.
3. The juice from the aloe
vera plant can take away
the sting and redness out
of the sunburn. Apply
the juice to your
sunburn. Apply five to six
times per day for several
days. Luckily aloe vera is
easy to find around your
neighborhood.
4. Soak a washcloth in cool water
and apply it to your burned
areas. Do not apply ice or an ice
pack to your sunburn. Rewet the
cloth to keep it cool. Apply the
washcloth multiple times a day.
5. When you get sunburn not
only does the sun burn your
skin but it also dehydrates it.
Drink plenty of water to
recover your skin. Being well
hydrated helps your skin heal
better.
6. Soaking in a tub filled with
chilly water is a good way of
easing the sting especially if
your burn is in hard to reach
places. Avoid using soap
because it can irritate and dry
out your skin. If you feel that
you must use soap then use a
mild one such as Dove or
Aveeno Bar and rinse it off well.
Pat your skin with a soft towel
to dry off. Don’t soak too long
because it can aggravate your
skin.
7. The sun dries out your skins
surface. To prevent your skin
from drying out you should
apply moisturizer right after
you soak off your skin. For the
moisturizer to really moisturize
your skin put the moisturizer in
the refrigerator so that it can
get cold before using it.
8. Potatoes are great pain relievers.
It’s a technique that’s known
throughout the world. Take two
washed potatoes, cut them into
small chunks, and place them in a
blender or food processor . Blend
the potatoes until they turn into
liquid form. Add water if they look
dry and take a cool shower with it.
A less messy method is to apply
the mash to a clean gauze and
place it onto the burn.
9. Sunburns often occur in hard to
reach places such as your back.
The burn then faces irritation
when you wear tight clothes.
Cover the sunburn with
cornstarch. Cornstarch helps to
ease the pain or irritation. Do not
apply oils. If the burn is blistering
do not apply anything on it.
10. Cucumbers have analgesic
properties and have natural
antioxidant. Put the cucumbers
in the refrigerator until they
have become cold. Then mash
them in a blender to create a
paste. Apply on burned areas
including the face.
11. Last but not least, the best
way to prevent yourself
from getting sunburned is
to apply sunblock before
going directly into the sun.
