This document outlines the core competencies for digital librarians. It defines digital libraries and librarians. There are four main competencies: 1) Information management skills like constructing ontologies; 2) Technological skills to use information and communication technologies; 3) Information literacy skills to access, evaluate, and use information effectively; 4) Interpersonal skills to collaborate in multicultural environments remotely. Digital librarians need a blend of traditional library skills updated for the digital environment combined with technical and teaching abilities.
