Forensic science utilizes scientific principles to support or negate theories surrounding physical evidence found at a crime scene. As such, forensic scientists analyze evidence gathered or received from crime scenes and present their findings based the results of their analyses.
A forensic science job description may appear distinctly different depending on the area of forensic science being practiced. This is because forensic science is a rather broad field and thus encompasses a number of specialties, all of which are rooted in the natural sciences.
A digital imaging instrument manufactured by Foster + Freeman that employs combinations of light sources and filters to examine document evidence under various wavelengths of radiation ranging from ultraviolet to the infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.
VSC is a preferred tool as it supports non destructive examination of documents. VSC uses multiple parameters like IR, UV, and White light providing accurate results.

Jisha murder case
1.
2. INTRODUCTION
The Jisha murder case was a rape and murder crime that shook the
Indian state of Kerala during April 2016 .
• Jisha, a 29-year-old law student at the Government Law College,
Ernakulam, was found dead on April 28, 2016 at her home near a
Vattolippadi canal in Perumbavoor in Ernakulam.
• She was found dead at her house around 8.30 pm on April 28 2016,
She was living with her mother Rajeshwari who works as a casual
labourer and Her father, Pappu, separated from the family stays
alone.
• The Police were puzzled in the initial stage with the paranoid
mother, a daily wage worker, they also had no close contacts/cordial
relationship with the neighbors or relatives, this affected the case's
progress initially among other factors.[
3. Murder
• At her house police found the body mutilated and disturbingly
sliced.
• Forensics said that the body injuries showed violence, possible
torture and presence of alcohol.
• The alcoholic assailant observed Jisha's routine and waited to
sexually assault her; in that effort and rage he killed her and when
she asked for water moments before death he gave her alcohol that
he had with him
• The report also noted that the culprit had used a sharp weapon to
disembowel her and victim was stabbed over 30 times.
• Her chest was pierced with a dagger and severe injury inflicted on
her neck led to her death according to the postmortem report.
4. According to forensic officials
samples of bloodstains, saliva found on the churidar of the
victim along with the skin cells found under the nails of the
victim and blood smears on the door hook of the house were
recovered and sent for the forensic examination.
5. Arrest of murderer
• What gave the cops a breakthrough was a fresh probe conducted
based on the recovery of a pair of black chappals recovered from
near the victim’s house at Vattolippadi Canal Road at Eravichira.
The police followed up the information provided by a footwear
shopkeeper at Kuruppamppadi, from where the person bought
the slippers.
6. Through continuous search of the police and involvement of
people, the Jisha murder case came through a breakthrough.
A citizen hailing from Assam informed his doubts about a
worker he knew to the Kerala police.
Next by following the lead they picked up the Assamese
labourer group, and learnt that 24-year-old Ameer-ul-Islam
was missing from the group.
later arrested from Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu.
Through DNA examination of the Ameer- ul- Islam.. it was
confirmed that the evidences recovered from crime scene
were matching with the Suspect and he was declared as the
culprit.
later he admitted committing the gruesome murder of the
woman in Perumbavoor.
7.
8. Case Impact
The crime took place in the backdrop of the Kerala Legislative elections, and
hence gained momentum and focus from political parties.
• As a Dalit woman brutally murdered in her home in Perumbavoor, Justice
for Jisha was the hashtag (#JusticeForJisha) used in the social media
during April 2016 to quicken efforts for justice to Jisha by politicians and
largely by people.
• The film industry also joined forces in demanding justice for Jisha. Also
many artists and humanitarians pledged support to the case.
• The government has declared to offer a financial consolation of Rs 10 lakh
to the family of Jisha and a home will be provided for her parents.
