Protection against Lost or Stolen Data with Novell ZENworks Endpoint Security...Novell
Laptops and mobile devices—carrying more business-critical data than ever before—are frequently the target of theft or accidental loss. And with a host of removable media devices connecting to networks every day, keeping your data safe has never been more important. In this session we'll discuss the capabilities Novell ZENworks Endpoint Security Management provides to do just that. You'll learn about the product's unique file and folder-based encryption (with advanced data encryption key management), removable storage device controls, USB device controls, and other features designed to protect data residing on lost or stolen devices.
Microsoft and Novell are working together to improve interoperability between Windows and Linux environments. Since forging the five-year agreement, the two companies have rolled out a number of interoperability initiatives including virtualization, identity federation, and heterogeneous systems management. This session will provide an overview of the interoperability solutions that you can deploy today to reduce data center costs, gain new levels of flexibility, and streamline operations all with complete peace of mind around licensing and integration.

Lego Cloud SAP Virtualization Week 2012Benoit Hudzia
This session will demonstrate that by extending KVM we can deliver none-disruptively the next level of IaaS platform modularization. We will first show instantaneous live migration of VM. Then we will introduce the memory aggregation concept, and finally how to achieve full operational flexibility by dis-aggregating the datacenter resource to its core elements.
Modularizing and aggregating physical resources in a datacenter depends not only on low-latency networking, but also on software techniques to deliver such capabilities. In the session we will present some practical features and results of our work, as well as discuss implementation details. Among these features are delivering high-performance, transparent, and partially fault tolerant memory aggregation; and reducing the downtime of live migration using post-copy implementations.
We will present and discuss methods of transparently integrating with the MMU at the OS level, without impacting a running VM;
We will then introfuce the Hecatonchire project ( http://www.hecatonchire.com ) which aim at the disaggregation of datacenter resources and enable true utility computing.
Automating Oracle Database deployment with Amazon Web Services, fabric, and botomjbommar
Have credit card, need database? In this talk, I'll show you how to deploy your own Oracle 11gR2 sandbox with a single keystroke (and I don't mean RDS). Along the way, we'll learn about Infrastructure-as-a-Service with boto, provisioning tools like fabric, and Oracle response files. When we're done, we'll have a repeatable, ten-minute process that can deliver a server as cheap as $5/day or as powerful as 40k IOPS and 2.6GB/s throughput. More importantly, we'll understand what the big deal about IaaS and automated provisioning really is, and how enterprise products like Oracle can still fit comfortably in the space.

Presented at JAX London 2013
Per-tenant resource management can help ensure that collocated tenants peacefully share computational resources based on individual quotas. This session begins with a comparison of deployment models (shared: hardware, OS, middleware, everything) to motivate the multitenant approach. The main topic is an exploration of experimental data isolation and resource management primitives in IBM’s JDK that combine to help make multitenant applications smaller and more predictable.

The Cloud: A game changer to test, at scale and in production, SOA based web...Fred Beringer
Today in retail, financial services, media, telecommunications and a host of other industries, more and more business is transacted through consumer web sites and mobile applications. With new channels creating spikes in traffic, highly complex system architectures, and internet-savvy customers, websites and web applications must be tested at scale to maximize business results and avoid a catastrophic crash. However, whether due to time or cost or other reasons, upwards of 90 percent of web applications are not fully tested before launching. If testing is done, many times it's with a small percent of expected traffic, which is then extrapolated for an estimation of performance.
Cloud computing is changing the game for testing web applications. Cloud testing enables, for the first time, performance testing that complements the lab and accounts for the conditions in a production environment, such as traffic spikes, network latency, firewalls, and other factors. And it can be done far more affordably than traditional testing methods, as part of agile development cycles, and without an army of highly skilled performance engineers.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.
