Lengthy Calculations: Students had to go through tedious calculations to arrive at the answer.

6. Major Topic Analysis
So let’s see what last years paper has to say based on a Major Topic-wise analysis:

High Weight-age of Electrodynamics: Similar to expectations Electrodynamics covers the majority of
paper constituting 30% of the paper.
2.
Surprise!: Many expected Mechanics to be in second in weight-age, but in JEE 2013 it was modern
physics! Considering the course length of both mechanics and modern physics, you must give Modern
Physics it’s due importance while final 3 months of preparation.
3.
Optics has equal weight-age to mechanics: So prepare for Mechanics keeping in mind JEE Advanced and
give importance to other topics also for JEE Mains.
4.
Importance of 12th portion: 60% of the paper was 12th portion
5.
11th standard: Oscillation secured second most weight-age and not heat and thermodynamics.

JEE 2013 had a fixed trend: No topic covered more than 8 marks. Either it covered 4 marks or 8 marks. Below

Simple harmonic motion (SHM) is twice the weight-age of string waves and sound waves both combined.
Communication and Semiconductors (not in JEE advanced syllabus) is 75% of Mechanics!
Wave Optics though small is equally important as Geometrical Optics.
Alternating Current did not come last year so this year may have larger weightage. Can expect 2 questions.
Leaving Capacitance because it is a small topic will be fatal.
Elasticity and Surface Tension is equal to Bernoulli’s Theorem and Equation of Continuity.
