PE:Licensing
? Part 1:Summary
The PE exam is a standard required for engineers in california
and many states. The test is made to test engineers for
knowledge, laws and just basic skills they need to meet the
standards for engineers to avoid complications in the future.
? Part2:Interest in PE exam
I am really interested in taking the PE exam. I am planning to
work in the state of california. The PE test sounds like a good
idea to get right after graduating with my bachelors my
concentration is in power so there are alot of classes that is
going to help prepare me for the test and there are many outside
sources that can prepare me for the test.
? Part3:Questions
If i get a PE test for california can i work in other states that
require PE license even if it ask for other requirements for the
test?
? Part4: My plan to prepare for the test
For the first criteria (General power engineering) one of the
classes I can take that will help me is (EE452: Power system
analysis).
For the second criteria (circuits) there are many classes I can
take in csulb in my road map that meets that criteria but the
base of it is (EE:211:Electric and Electronic circuits).
For the third criteria (Rotating machines and electric power
devices). Not really sure how to meet the criteria but I believe
(EE451:Electric vehicles) will help a lot.
Last criteria (Transmission and distribution) there is a lot of
classes offered that will help and programs that can prepare me
but (EE452:Power system analysis) also help in this criteria.
Module 5 - SLP
Human Resources and Collective Bargaining
The goal of the Session Long Project (SLP) was to develop a
policy brief. You conducted your own research to develop a
policy brief that impacts the field of education and composed a
specific section of the policy brief for each SLP assignment.
This assignment required a significant amount of time dedicated
to locating references and research related to the topic of the
policy brief. The components are outlined below:
SLP 1: Title and Executive Summary
SLP 2: Context of Scope of Problem
SLP 3: Policy Alternatives
SLP 4: Policy Recommendations
SLP 5: Reflection
Incorporate any feedback from your instructor from SLP 4. Use
the questions below to write a 2-page reflective essay:
1. What did you learn from this exercise?
2. How will this exercise inform your professional practice?
3. How did the exploration of the research on the topic shape
the policy brief?
4. How do you view your ability as a leader to interpret law and
policy?
a. Do you have more to learn? Explain.
b. Will your understanding shape your day-to-day practice?
5. How does policy impact equity and access to education?
Upload the final policy brief and reflective essay as a single
document to the SLP 5 DropBox.
SLP Assignment Expectations
This assignment is designated as a Signature Assignment to
assess the Institutional Learning Outcome (7):

Problems with California PE Law
• Board performs functions that do not affect safety:
o Adjudicate conflict between practice and title acts
o Comity made difficult by incompatibility with other states.
• Law restrains interdisciplinary practice
o e.g. electromechanical
o Ignores overlap of disciplines
o Ignores emerging fields: software, biomedical, etc.
• Title act engineers restricted from practice included in the
definition of
electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering
• Title act practice not regulated providing no public safeguards
• California does not use all NCEES branches 15
