Content Analysis
“From A Railway Carriage” is poem written by Robert Louis Stevenson, a famous Scottish Poet. In this Poem the poet
describes the thrill of Railway journeys. The scenes that we see through the window of a railway couch that last in our minds
for a long. The poet shares his experience of a railway journey in the poem.

1. Rapport Creation
A. Good Morning
B. Have you had your breakfast?
2. Entry Activity
* Do you like poems?
* What difference did you observe between train journey and road journey?
3. Link Talk
Give some clues about the author “From a Railway Carriage” on the Black Board.
Eg. He is a Scottish poet.
4. Individual Reading
Teacher the learner to read it individually. Corrections are made whenever necessary.
Track reading by the pupil. Students are asked to read the first and second stanzas of the
poem individually and silently.
5. Scaffolding Questions
A. Does the train move through village or city?
B. How does the poet describe the speed of the train?
C. What are the last two things seen from the railway carriage?
6. Video Presentation
Video presentation train journey.
7. Sharing the Ideas
Students share their ideas regarding video presentation
8. Activity
Students are asked to find out: Rhyming words used in the poem.
Importance of the chorus in the poem.
9. Presentation by the Pupil
Randomly the students are selected from each group and are asked to present their
answers.
10. Teacher’s Version
Teacher displays her version on a chart and asks the pupil to read it and copy it.

In this Poem the poet describes the thrill of Railway journeys. The scenes that we see through the window of a railway couch that last in our minds for a long. The poet shares his experience of a railway journey in the poem.

Pre-Requisites The Pupil Knows about: Train journey Adventurous aspects of travelling Learning Materials Course Book, Source Book, Chart, Pictures Reference Course Book, Source Book, Dictionary Classroom Proscess Student’s Response 1. Rapport Creation A. Good Morning B. Have you had your breakfast? 2. Entry Activity * Do you like poems? * What difference did you observe between train journey and road journey? 3. Link Talk Give some clues about the author “From a Railway Carriage” on the Black Board. Eg. He is a Scottish poet.
  • 4. 4. Individual Reading Teacher the learner to read it individually. Corrections are made whenever necessary. Track reading by the pupil. Students are asked to read the first and second stanzas of the poem individually and silently. 5. Scaffolding Questions A. Does the train move through village or city? B. How does the poet describe the speed of the train? C. What are the last two things seen from the railway carriage? 6. Video Presentation Video presentation train journey. 7. Sharing the Ideas Students share their ideas regarding video presentation 8. Activity Students are asked to find out: Rhyming words used in the poem. Importance of the chorus in the poem. 9. Presentation by the Pupil Randomly the students are selected from each group and are asked to present their answers.
