On February 9, 2016, the Supreme Court stayed the Clean Power Plan (CPP) pending judicial review, while the EPA remains confident that the plan will be upheld based on strong scientific and legal foundations. Although implementation and enforcement of the CPP for existing sources are currently on hold, the EPA will continue to assist states that voluntarily seek to reduce carbon pollution from power plants. The document outlines the EPA's actions and future expectations regarding carbon pollution standards and the CPP.
