AppExchange is the Salesforce store, it has been part of Salesforce ecosystem since 2006. It’s a faster and intelligent way to find the right solution to extend Salesforce across your business and into every industry.
Fun fact: Marc Benioff originally came up with the name App Store, but was good friends with Steve Jobs and let him take the name.
Now, AppExchange isn’t just apps. It’s an ecosystem of 4,000 ready-to-install solutions including apps, components, Bolt solutions, Lightning data and Flow solutions. To date, customers have installed more than 7 million solutions.
With so many solutions, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. That’s why we’ve launched intelligent recommendations. Recently, we launched a brand-new, intelligent “Recommended for You” page with a curated list of solutions just for you.
Last but not least, we have guided learning paths, so you can learn as you go with Trailhead and content.

Across most of these types - there are partner and Labs solutions - so if you’re looking for a way to get a feel for what these new solution types are, Labs is a great way to started. For instance, if you’re interested in testing out our new Flow Solutions, we have many Labs Flow solutions that you can install for free.

Employees share flexible solutions allowing you to customize and extend them to meet your businesses unique needs. These are open source contributions to the Salesforce Ohana by Salesforce Employees and not official Salesforce products.
Learn More: Grow your skills by examining how others create solutions. With Labs apps & components you are able to see how Salesforce Employees design solutions based on their experiences with thousands of customers. Their contributions allow you to level up your skills and decrease the time to launch for new initiatives at your organization. Either by unmanaged packages or code on the salesforce labs github you can see the inner workings of these apps & components to enhance your skills.
Be Inspired: Explore new features and products with real-world use cases. Get hands-on with new technology that may be the key to providing the solution you need without having to start from a blank page. And even if an App or Component does not meet your specific needs it may give you just the idea you to launch your next big transformation.

Salesforce labs has over 250+ solutions available on the AppExchange. Salesforce labs has published 40 new solutions this past year and are on track to publish 50+ solutions this year.
One thing that is important to mention is that Salesforce Labs are not official Salesforce Products and are not supported, they are open source solutions created by employees and shared with the community.

Part of Labs Core Values is having access to the Source Code. All of our packages used to be unmanaged packages, but we had to make some of our apps as managed packages to meet security requirements. Now we are leveraging Github so you can take advantage of the underlying code.
Each repository is free to use and modify via Github.
Security and TRUST is a big concern here at Salesforce, this means that each individual repo is vetted and approved by our Product Security team.
We are able to do this via the open source BSD license. Some of these repositories are even DX ready for those who leverage SFDX.
Salesforce Labs can also help you make the transition to Lightning.
We know driving adoption is hugely important to your role as a Salesforce Admin and moving to Lightning is quickly becoming just as important.
100% of Labs Solutions are Lightning Ready and can increase lightning adoption for your org.

Here is some background into this gantt chart for resource allocation app. The Salesforce Labs team partnered with Lightning LWC product team to build an awesome LWC app for users to take advantage of the latest technology. To get started all you have to do is install this app and you will be good to go.
The Labs team actually uses this application internally. They have multiple people working on different projects and this gives us visibility on who's working on what project. It also gives the team an idea how long certain projects are taking, their milestones and when they are expected to be completed. Lastly you can also get an overview of all the projects, resources and allocations. If you have too many results you can use the filter criteria to enhance your search.
Gantt-Chart was built to work with 2 core objects with a junction object between them. In the sample code we have Projects and Resources. Resources can be allocated to Projects using the Allocation junction object. This can be adapted to fit any scenario such as, Meetings to Rooms, or Trucks to Deliveries.

This component helps you, and your users make filling in addresses a breeze! It will find address suggestions as you type and upon selection will fill out all the relevant fields for you to make use of however you'd like in your flow.
◆ Simple to set up address autocomplete for your flow! Add it to your screen as a lightning component and use the output attributes however you'd like!
◆ Grab the individual parts of the address or use the full address string how the API provides it.

Salesforce launched a new Trail to train Salesforce professionals how to responsibly volunteer their expertise with nonprofits and educational institutions that power their missions with Salesforce.
Trailblazers will learn:

how to prepare for and manage a short-term pro bono project
how to find a nonprofit, NGO, or educational institution
Salesforce will donate $1 for every person that completes the Trail up to $10,000 to Kiva, a nonprofit organization that facilitates crowdfunded microloans to underserved communities. Through Kiva's work, students can pay for tuition, women can start businesses, farmers are able to invest in equipment and families can afford needed emergency care.
