WELCOME TO WINTER AT THE ESA
LIBRARY.
Cold nights. Sunny days. Crisp white snow. A perfect
recipe for curling up with a good read.
If you haven’t already been there to check it out, head to the latest addition to the ESA
Library Online: the ESA Library Pinterest site. Find out what’s new in the Library.
Organised by category, each entry includes a picture of the cover, a brief note about the book,
and one or more links out to book reviews, or other commentaries as the case may be.
Many thanks again to our fabulous Library volunteers. Hardworking, knowledgeable and
dedicated, they help make the Library the happening place it is. Heading into the last half of
the year, we have some senior students who are looking to cut back on their hours as they
buckle down on the road to post-secondary education. This means that we have some
openings for new student volunteers at some times during the week. If you, or someone you
know, are interested, drop by the Library for a chat and we’ll see what we can do to build you
into the new volunteer schedule.
February brings Black History Month, Valentine’s Day and Freedom to Read Week.
Watch for a display featuring Staff and Student picks for
Valentine’s Day reading. Friends of ESA from the Thomas
Fisher Rare Books Library at the UofT will be here at the
end of February to help us celebrate Freedom to Read
Week. They will be workshopping students in both the
Philosophy and Media Studies classes on the morning of
Tuesday February 25th. We have room for a few extra
visitors if anyone is interested. Contact Ms. Wray in the

Poetry in Voice is
back at ESA!
Poetry in Voice
is a national
poetry recitation
contest for high
school students
across Canada.
Students
memorise and recite poems from the
online anthology. Students compete in
their (English) classroom. The schoolwide competition, featuring the
classroom winners, will take place after
school on Monday March 3rd, in the
Mini-Theatre.
In-school winners are entered into
the online semi-finals, for a chance to
compete at the National Finals in
Vancouver, BC.

daily basis. From the latest
bestsellers, to updated editions of
favourite classics there is something

made additions to the Music and
Music Theatre collections including
soundtrack CD’s and vocal scores
from some of your favourite
contemporary Broadway shows.
