IT’S ALL ABOUT DNA 
MORGAN LEWIS 
CI350 9-23-14
ANALYSIS OF THE LEARNER 
 9th-12th Grade, General Education 
 Age Range: 14 to 18 years old 
 25 Students: 13 Girls, 12 Boys 
 Ethnic Makeup: 75% Caucasian, 20% African American, 5% Latino 
 3 Students have mild ADHD
MAIN OBJECTIVE 
 My students will demonstrate a deeper understanding of DNA after comparing and contrasting it to 
RNA, completing a DNA extraction lab, watching videos, and creating an original song about DNA by the 
end of the week with a 90% accuracy.
DAY-BY-DAY BREAKDOWN 
 Day 1: DNA in Living Organisms 
 Day 2: DNA vs. RNA 
 Day 3: DNA Extraction Lab 
 Day 4: DNA Replication and Mutations 
 Day 5: Connections to Modern Science/Presentation of Original DNA Songs
USE OF TECHNOLOGY
