3. EMSC – AH FIRE DEPARTMENT
Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) is a collaborative, state-wide
project through Baylor Medicine and work performed with multiple hospital
agencies
EMSC uses performance measures and on-site inspections to identify departments
who are either meeting or exceeding the state standards for pediatric care
The goal of EMSC is to identify departments who go above and beyond in the
care of pediatric patients and use equipment that is up to date with national
standards and practices.
Decals provided for ambulance units display to the public that AHFD is at the
GOLD level of EMSC
4. EMSC – AH FIRE DEPARTMENT
AHFD is one of only 13 agencies in Texas who have achieved the GOLD
level of certification (the highest certification available)
AHFD and San Antonio Fire Department are the only two agencies in Bexar
County who have been recognized at the GOLD level certification
GOLD level certification involves the department:
Having state-of-the-art emergency medical equipment for pediatric emergencies
Pediatric services integrated to the GOLD standards set by DSHS and state-wide hospitals
Signifies that AHFD adheres to the same standards and practices for infant and pediatric
care as used for adult patients
AHFD received accreditation and auditing inspections that met or
exceeded the GOLD level certification criteria
