The document summarizes the main achievements of the Asian Soil Partnership (ASP) since the Seventh Plenary Assembly of the Global Soil Partnership. 1. Since establishment of ASP, we have many achievements. The activities
under ASP implementation during two thousand nineteen to two thousand
twenty were executed after the Seventh Plenary Assembly.
Under Pillar 1
• ASP member countries work together to strengthen collaboration
among the countries in promoting sustainable soil management and
thank to China for financial support.
•The InternationalNetwork of Black Soils (INBS) was established
with the aim of providing a platform for knowledge sharing for
countries with black soils, experts from our region, and China as a
chair of INBS, participated in the network and the document
preparation on the global status.
• The ASP Secretariat selected the experts from several countries to
join the editorialboard for the Global Assessment of Soil Pollution
report.
Under Pillar 2
• The ACMECS project has long been implementedin Greater Mekong
Sub-region to raise an awareness of the importanceof soil and
capacity building for promotionsustainable land management.
Thailand also developed project to promote the volunteer soil doctor
program in this sub-region, with financial support from China.
• Last year, at least 181 World Soil Day events were organized across
the region. Thailand organized international seminar to highlight the
importanceof soil and focus attention to soil erosion, with key speakers
from 10 countries.
• During the World Soil Day celebration,the second King Bhumibol
World Soil Day Award was granted to Asociacion Costarricense De La
Ciencia Del Suelo or ACCS from Costa Rica on the theme ‘Hands on
Soils’.

2.  The dissemination of the International Code of Conduct for the
Sustainable Use and Management of Fertilizers at the 2019 Global
Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Development
Conference in China.
 The collaboration in promoting integrated agricultural system for
sustainable soil management among Greater-Mekong member countries
funded by Lancang-Mekong Cooperation special fund.
 Experts participated in the 2nd International Network of Black Soils
(INBS) and the Editorial Board for the Global Assessment of Soil
Pollution report.

3.  The Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation
Strategy (ACMECS) project has been implemented to promote
sustainable soil and land management among the countries in Greater
Mekong Sub-region.
 The project on ‘the development of the volunteer soil doctor in the
Greater Mekong Sub-region’ has recently been implemented and
funded by Lancang Mekong Cooperation special fund (China).
 Countries also contributed to the development of SoilLex by replying a
questionnaire sent out by the GSP Secretariat.

4. Pillar 3
Main achievements of ASP since the 7th GSPPA
 Chair of Pillar 3 developed research project in cooperation with Japan,
Thailand and Indonesia and submitted to potential donors.
 ASP Secretariat has appointed Prof. Dr. Charlie Navanugraha, a well-known
expert working actively and internationally with several universities and
organizations, as Director General of CESRA. Also, staff of each department
was assigned to carry on CESRA’s implementation.
 Additionally, FAORAP provided support to strengthen CESRA activities
which emphasized in operation and strategy at regional level to support ASP
member countries.

5. Pillar 4
Main achievements of ASP since the 7th GSPPA
 Countries continued to improve their national soil organic carbon maps and they were
trained and created national soil salinity maps.
 Progresses on the Soil Atlas of Asia were made; national soil classification systems
were harmonized, and maps and text contributions were collected.
 The Soil Atlas of Asia attracted the attention of the Asian Food and Agriculture
Cooperation Initiative (AFACI) that is financially contributing to the establishment
and strengthening of national soil information systems and to the production of the
maps to be published in the Atlas.
 The cooperation between regions (Russia Myanmar and Thailand) was established to
develop expert systems based on large - scale soil - geographic databases and received
a funding from ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership Financial Fund (DPFF).
 The ASP Chair for Pillar 4 was actively involved in the writing of the new global
implementation plan for Pillar 4 that will be sent to all national focal points for
review.

6. Pillar 5
Main achievements of ASP since the 7th GSPPA
 The third meeting of the Asian Soil Laboratory Network (SEALNET) was
organized in September 2019 in the Philippines.
 The regional Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) for soil moisture,
electrical conductivity and available phosphorous by Bray I and II were
endorsed, the establishment of national soil laboratory networks in the region
was reviewed, participants were trained in QA/QC building on the results of
the 2019 GLOSOLAN proficiency test, and the position of SEALNET in
GLOSOLAN was reviewed.
 All national reference laboratories from the region are participating in the
2020 GLOSOLAN proficiency test.
