INTRODUCTION
• The Islamic development bank is an international Islamic
financial institution
• Established at the city of Jeddah, kingdom of Saudi Arabia
on 24/7/1394(12/8/1974), signed and ratified by all
member countries
• Bank was formally opened on 15 Shawwal 1395h
corresponding to 20 October 1975.
Who they Are ?
• The Islamic Development Bank is a multilateral development
bank (MDB), working to improve the lives of those we serve by
promoting social and economic development in Muslim
countries and communities worldwide, delivering impact at
scale. They provide the infrastructure to enable people to lead
better lives and achieve their full potential.
LANGUAGES
• .The official language of the bank is Arabic but English and
French are additionally used as working languages.
VISION
Our Vision is to be a world-class development bank inspired
by Islamic principles. We will transform the landscape of
human development in the Muslim and non-Muslim world,
and help restore human dignity.

•The present membership of the Bank consists of 57
countries.
•HEAD OFFICE
• Head office and regional offices of the IDB THE banks principal
office is in the JEDDA kingdom of SAUDI ARABIA. Four regional
offices were opened in Rabat, Morocco (1994),Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia (1994). Kazakhstan (1997), and Dakar, Senegal(2008)
• Eight offices in different country

MANGEMENT STRUCTURE
HIERARCHY:
Board of Governors
• The Board of Governors is the highest authority of the Bank.
Each member country of the Bank is represented on the Board
with a Governor and an Alternate Governor. In most cases, one
or both of them are of ministerial status. The Board meets once
a year to consider and approve the financial statements for the
past fiscal year, to appoint the external auditors and to lay
down the future policies of the Bank.
BOARD OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS .
The Board of Executive Directors (BED) is the body responsible
for the direction of the general operations and policies of the
Bank. The BED is currently composed of eighteen members -
nine Executive Directors appointed by their countries, which are
the main shareholders, while nine others are elected by the
Governors of other countries. The term of office for members of
the BED is a renewable period of three years.

CAPITAL STRUCTURE
Capital as per the decision of the 38th annual meeting of the
board of governors, the authorized capital of the IDB was
raised to id 100 billion and its subscribed capital to id 50
billion.
SOURCES OF FUNDS:
1) Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD)
oincome from the Waqf;
oii. funds derived from its operations; and
oiii. other resources received by the Fund
2) IDB Waqf Fund
oReturn from cash and cash equivalents and fixed deposits with
banks;
oII. Profit on managed investment;
oIII. Net income from deposits of the Unit Investment Fund (UIF);
and
oIV. Investment in Murabaha and other funds
OBJECTIVES
• The following are the main objectives of IDB
• Promotion of islamic financial industries and institution.
• Poverty alleviation.
• Promotion of cooperation among member countries.
SWOT ANALYSIS:
STRENGTHS
✓ Creation and promotion of long term jobs
✓ Development of access to basic social services
✓ increase the relationship among different countries.
✓ Increase research and development
WEAKNESSES•
✓Decrease in government ownership increased vulnerability
✓ High level of dependence on a few commodities for export
earnings.
✓ Under-developed agro-processing. High unemployment and
high cost of production.
✓ Low rate of public and private savings.
OPPORTUNITIES
➢ Increase in agricultural production.
➢ The potential crop land (12 million ha) of which less than 5
million ha are used today.
➢ Other sectors such as mining and tourism.
THREATS:
✓ The socio-political instability in West Africa.
✓ The possibility of accumulation of debt to the Bank Group.
✓ Probable weak capacity of public administration.
CONCLUSION:
The parties should consciously and willingly agree on the
conditions of contract without compulsion or duress. An
implication of this is that any agreement made in a state of
unconsciousness (such as under the influence of intoxicants or
imposed by force is not valid).

INTRODUCTION • The Islamic development bank is an international Islamic financial institution • Established at the city of Jeddah, kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 24/7/1394(12/8/1974), signed and ratified by all member countries • Bank was formally opened on 15 Shawwal 1395h corresponding to 20 October 1975.

Who they Are ? • The Islamic Development Bank is a multilateral development bank (MDB), working to improve the lives of those we serve by promoting social and economic development in Muslim countries and communities worldwide, delivering impact at scale. They provide the infrastructure to enable people to lead better lives and achieve their full potential.
  • 8. LANGUAGES • .The official language of the bank is Arabic but English and French are additionally used as working languages.
  • 9. VISION Our Vision is to be a world-class development bank inspired by Islamic principles. We will transform the landscape of human development in the Muslim and non-Muslim world, and help restore human dignity.

IDB MEMBER COUNTRIES •The present membership of the Bank consists of 57 countries. •HEAD OFFICE • Head office and regional offices of the IDB THE banks principal office is in the JEDDA kingdom of SAUDI ARABIA. Four regional offices were opened in Rabat, Morocco (1994),Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1994). Kazakhstan (1997), and Dakar, Senegal(2008) • Eight offices in different country

  • 14. Board of Governors • The Board of Governors is the highest authority of the Bank. Each member country of the Bank is represented on the Board with a Governor and an Alternate Governor. In most cases, one or both of them are of ministerial status. The Board meets once a year to consider and approve the financial statements for the past fiscal year, to appoint the external auditors and to lay down the future policies of the Bank.
  • 15. BOARD OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS . The Board of Executive Directors (BED) is the body responsible for the direction of the general operations and policies of the Bank. The BED is currently composed of eighteen members - nine Executive Directors appointed by their countries, which are the main shareholders, while nine others are elected by the Governors of other countries. The term of office for members of the BED is a renewable period of three years.
  • 17. CAPITAL STRUCTURE Capital as per the decision of the 38th annual meeting of the board of governors, the authorized capital of the IDB was raised to id 100 billion and its subscribed capital to id 50 billion.

SOURCES OF FUNDS: 1) Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) oincome from the Waqf; oii. funds derived from its operations; and oiii. other resources received by the Fund 2) IDB Waqf Fund oReturn from cash and cash equivalents and fixed deposits with banks; oII. Profit on managed investment; oIII. Net income from deposits of the Unit Investment Fund (UIF); and oIV. Investment in Murabaha and other funds
  • 19. OBJECTIVES • The following are the main objectives of IDB • Promotion of islamic financial industries and institution. • Poverty alleviation. • Promotion of cooperation among member countries.
  • 21. STRENGTHS ✓ Creation and promotion of long term jobs ✓ Development of access to basic social services ✓ increase the relationship among different countries. ✓ Increase research and development
  • 22. WEAKNESSES• ✓Decrease in government ownership increased vulnerability ✓ High level of dependence on a few commodities for export earnings. ✓ Under-developed agro-processing. High unemployment and high cost of production. ✓ Low rate of public and private savings.
  • 23. OPPORTUNITIES ➢ Increase in agricultural production. ➢ The potential crop land (12 million ha) of which less than 5 million ha are used today. ➢ Other sectors such as mining and tourism.
  • 24. THREATS: ✓ The socio-political instability in West Africa. ✓ The possibility of accumulation of debt to the Bank Group. ✓ Probable weak capacity of public administration.
  • 25. CONCLUSION: The parties should consciously and willingly agree on the conditions of contract without compulsion or duress. An implication of this is that any agreement made in a state of unconsciousness (such as under the influence of intoxicants or imposed by force is not valid).
