Isabel Allende is a Chilean-American author born in 1942 in Lima, Peru. She received Chile's National Literature Prize in 2010 and was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2004. Allende founded the Isabel Allende Foundation in 1996 to support programs helping women and children. She writes primarily in the style of magical realism and has authored over 20 novels translated into over 30 languages, selling over 56 million copies worldwide.
