The Iroquois women played important roles in their society, including household duties, food preparation, clothing production, childcare, and participating in ceremonies traditionally done by men. They also collected firewood and tended crops. Women were influential in political matters and could veto decisions. Iroquois men hunted, made tools, and cleared land. Their culture included diverse languages, artistic traditions like basketry and woodworking, ceremonial masks, and belief in the Great Spirit. They used tools of stone, bone, and wood and weapons like tomahawks, bows and arrows for hunting and fighting. Transportation was by foot, canoe, or dog sled. Politics involved elected Chiefs and influence of women's councils.
