The wetlands at highest risk of being lost due to climate change-induced sea level rise by 2100 in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana are the freshwater wetlands in the northwestern portion. These wetlands have a low tolerance for higher salinity levels. The wetlands at lowest risk are located in the middle of the parish, where elevation gradually increases, reducing the impacts of inundation, erosion, and sea spray. The study finds the northern wetlands to be most sensitive due to their freshwater composition, while the gradual sloping terrain in the center mitigates risks.
