In line with the 40th year anniversary, the Philippine Association of Academic/Research
Librarians, Inc. will be holding its 5th Marina G. Dayrit Lecture Series with the topic
"Libraries as Learning Organizations" to be held at the Epifanio Delos Santos Auditorium,
National Library of the Philippines on 29 November 2013, 1:00-5:00PM. The lecture series,
named in honor of our founding president Ms. Marina G. Dayrit, aims to provide a fertile
learning environment for new ideas and enlightened discussions among library and
information professionals in the country.
The specific objectives of this lecture series are (1) to better understand the definition of a
learning organization as model for innovation and how it relates to Philippine libraries and
(2) to identify strategies to foster a learning organization environment in libraries and
information centers. We have invited Ms. Christine M. Abrigo, Assistant Director for
Operations of De La Salle University Libraries, as resource person.
It has been a long tradition for the Association to conduct a free forum at the National
Library of the Philippines every November as a way of celebrating the LIS Month as well a
means of expressing our gratitude to PAARL members for their incessant support to its
mission and objectives.
In this regard, we would like to invite all PAARL paid institutional and individual members
from 2011-2013 to this lecture series. The venue can accommodate 250-300 persons. Hence,
only limited slots are available. Registration is free and a first come, first served basis.
We also invite you to join or renew your membership (fees: Php200, individual; Php500,

officers and directors.
