The document summarizes a case study investigating the use of an internal corporate weblog (blog) in a small-to-medium sized enterprise (SME). The study examined why the manager created the blog, how it affected knowledge transfer, and employee perceptions of the blog through a blog artifact analysis, experiment, and survey. Securitization of Trade Credit: Trade credit is an important source of financing for MSMEs, as they sell on credit to their large customers and then wait for long periods for payment. If these receivables (trade credit) could be packaged as a securitized asset, which would essentially be a commercial paper with the credit rating of the large firm, it could help MSMEs reduce their investment in working capital and their need for finance significantly. The credit worthiness of a typical MSME would also improve, qualifying it for greater bank funding. Though the securitization process which is similar to factoring, could be more cost-effective than bank funding, factoring, and letters of credit.

We describe concept and implementation of a wiki-based application facilitating knowledge transfer and learning within the enterprise. Building on two interviews with managerial experts responsible for the roll-out and an online survey of 59 non-executive employees targeted by this new solution, we present the results of our evaluation. Our contribution was highly motivated from the continuing discussion on the potential and pitfalls of Web 2.0 technologies and applications underlying technology enhanced learning and the lack of empirical studies in contrast.

This paper proposes a novel cascaded model for expert recommendation using aggregated knowledge extracted from enormous contents and social network fe atures. Vector space model is used to compute the relevance of published content with respect to a specific query while PageRank algorithm is applied to rank candidate experts. Vier von 10 Haushalten in Österreich nutzen Smartphonetarife, und schon seit dem 3. Quartal 2010 gibt es laut RTR Telekommonitor mehr mobile als feste Breitbandanschlüsse. Nur, welche Möglichkeiten bieten Smartphones und Tablet in der Zukunft. Wie lässt sich die integrierte Sensorik nutzen und welche Apps kommen auf uns zu. Das digitale Empfehlen von Objekten wie Unternehmen, Produkten und Dienstleistungen aller Art über Plattformen des Social Web wie Twitter, Facebook & co. ist heute gelebte Praxis bei den Nutzern. Doch bisher existiert keine Möglichkeit, diese Empfehlungen direkt über das Objekt aus der realen in die virtuelle Welt auszusprechen. Vielmehr müssen Fans vorher erst mühsam eine Plattform in der virtuellen Welt aufrufen und dort eine entsprechende Aktion bei der digitalen Repräsentation des Objekts (z.B. die Facebook Seite) setzen. In Zukunft wird es möglich sein, dass Objekte direkt und ohne Umweg über eine Web-Seite über das Mobiltelefon mit dem Social Web vernetzt werden. Mit dem seit Anfang 2011 im deutschsprachigen Raum erhältlichen „Google Nexus S“ steht ein mit der dafür notwendigen Technologie Near Field Communication (NFC) ausgerüstetes Smartphone mit Konnektivität zum Web für die breite Masse zur Verfügung. Vor diesem Hintergrund wurde in dem von JOANNEUM RESEARCH und evolaris next level gemeinsam durchgeführten Projekt „Interactive Things“ ein Demonstrator für das Betriebssystem Android mit folgender Funktionsweise entwickelt: Bringt ein Nutzer sein mit der gleichnamigen Applikation „Interactive Things“ versehenes Mobiltelefon in die Nähe eines mit einem NFC-Tag versehenen Objekts, können über die Applikation digitale Empfehlungen wie „Facebook: Check-in“, „Facebook: Gefällt-mir“ und „Twitter: Send Tweet“ durchgeführt werden. SunnyBAG, Hersteller einer innovativen Tasche, welche einen integrierten Akku mit Hilfe eingebauter Solarpanelen auflädt, macht sich die in diesem Projekt entwickelte Technologie schon heute zunutze.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management. The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM). Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”. All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
