This document provides an overview of various inventory control methods used in hospitals and other organizations. It discusses ABC analysis which categorizes items based on their annual expenditure. It also covers VED analysis which categorizes items based on their criticality for patient care. Other analyses covered include HML (cost), SDE (scarcity), and FSN (consumption rate). Methods for ordering, issuing items, maintenance/repair, and information systems are also summarized. Just-in-time techniques aim to minimize inventory through perfect coordination across material management subsystems.
