HOW TO BE THE GREAT SUPERVISOR by DANIEL DONI SUNDJOJODaniel Doni
The document provides guidance on how to be a great supervisor. It outlines some common problems supervisors face such as a lack of understanding of expectations and proper motivation. It then lists elements that great supervisors exhibit, including focusing on their team and responsibilities, bringing energy to improve performance, and providing honest, clear information to their boss. The document emphasizes that supervisors should manage people, not just paperwork, and should strive to be a solution rather than just reporting problems. Great supervisors will be rewarded with incentives like salary increases and promotions.
The Mentorship Program at T&F was created in 2010 based on employee feedback requesting guidance and support from experienced employees. The program is informal with 1:1 mentoring relationships lasting 6-12 months between employees in different divisions. Over 70 matches have been made in 5 years with only 2 not working out. Benefits include 20% of participants being promoted, 10% transferring, and under 5% turnover. The program increased employee engagement and led to improved productivity and cost savings.
Yingquan Liang was responsible for recording a group meeting, asking questions about settlement services, and preparing a PowerPoint presentation. According to their self-evaluation, they learned about the organization TCCSA and its programs. They contributed well to teamwork but could have asked more questions during a group visit. Overall it was a valuable learning experience about helping connect families to useful social services.
This document discusses how a mentoring organization called TeamMates collects and uses data from its program. It explains that program coordinators collect data and import it into a central office for analysis and review. The analyzed data is then used for statistics, dashboards, survey results, case statements for fundraising, marketing, recruiting, grant proposals, grant reporting, and decision-making. The document also compares some of TeamMates' program metrics like match length and quality to national averages, showing how data helps demonstrate the organization's impact and aligns with its mission. It provides resources for partners and encourages experimenting with data.

This document summarizes a study that examined the dilemmas experienced by three elementary school teachers in teaching science and how their approaches to reconciling these dilemmas were impacted by coaching and their career stage. The study found that the teachers perceived tensions between prioritizing science instruction versus other subjects, between their responsibility to teach science and lack of science background, and between strictly following or supplementing the science curriculum. How the teachers reconciled these common dilemmas differed based on their teaching experience, comfort with other subjects, and sense of accountability to teach science. The amount of time spent with science coaches correlated with increased time spent teaching science and addressing dilemmas in reform-oriented ways.

Suzanne Lagerweij - Influence Without Power - Why Empathy is Your Best Friend...Suzanne Lagerweij
This is a workshop about communication and collaboration. We will experience how we can analyze the reasons for resistance to change (exercise 1) and practice how to improve our conversation style and be more in control and effective in the way we communicate (exercise 2).
This session will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
Abstract:
Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.
Come learn more on how to become a real influencer!

Carrer goals.pptx and their importance in real lifeartemacademy2
Career goals serve as a roadmap for individuals, guiding them toward achieving long-term professional aspirations and personal fulfillment. Establishing clear career goals enables professionals to focus their efforts on developing specific skills, gaining relevant experience, and making strategic decisions that align with their desired career trajectory. By setting both short-term and long-term objectives, individuals can systematically track their progress, make necessary adjustments, and stay motivated. Short-term goals often include acquiring new qualifications, mastering particular competencies, or securing a specific role, while long-term goals might encompass reaching executive positions, becoming industry experts, or launching entrepreneurial ventures.
Moreover, having well-defined career goals fosters a sense of purpose and direction, enhancing job satisfaction and overall productivity. It encourages continuous learning and adaptation, as professionals remain attuned to industry trends and evolving job market demands. Career goals also facilitate better time management and resource allocation, as individuals prioritize tasks and opportunities that advance their professional growth. In addition, articulating career goals can aid in networking and mentorship, as it allows individuals to communicate their aspirations clearly to potential mentors, colleagues, and employers, thereby opening doors to valuable guidance and support. Ultimately, career goals are integral to personal and professional development, driving individuals toward sustained success and fulfillment in their chosen fields.

Why Psychological Safety Matters for Software Teams - ACE 2024 - Ben Linders.pdfBen Linders
Psychological safety in teams is important; team members must feel safe and able to communicate and collaborate effectively to deliver value. It’s also necessary to build long-lasting teams since things will happen and relationships will be strained.
But, how safe is a team? How can we determine if there are any factors that make the team unsafe or have an impact on the team’s culture?
In this mini-workshop, we’ll play games for psychological safety and team culture utilizing a deck of coaching cards, The Psychological Safety Cards. We will learn how to use gamification to gain a better understanding of what’s going on in teams. Individuals share what they have learned from working in teams, what has impacted the team’s safety and culture, and what has led to positive change.
Different game formats will be played in groups in parallel. Examples are an ice-breaker to get people talking about psychological safety, a constellation where people take positions about aspects of psychological safety in their team or organization, and collaborative card games where people work together to create an environment that fosters psychological safety.

Editor's Notes
A typical Toastmasters group consists of 20 people who meet once a week for about an hour. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice:
Members learn how to plan and conduct meetings.
Members have the opportunity to present one- to two-minute impromptu speeches on assigned topics.
Three or more members present speeches based on projects from Toastmasters manuals, which cover topics such as speech organization, speech to inspire, persuasive speech, humorous speech, speech using visual aids, presenting your research. The manuals allow members to develop confidence as they progress one step at a time toward becoming the speaker and leader they want to be.
Every speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement. This peer evaluation is key to the success of the Toastmasters program. Members learn to offer constructive feedback and to accept feedback more objectively.
Toastmasters’ hands-on training teaches your employees:
Give better sales presentations by composing and delivering prepared speeches that meet specific objectives provided in specially designed manuals
Hone their management skills and organize teams by assembling and chairing committees
Provide constructive feedback as they evaluate the speeches and performance of leadership roles by other club members
Effectively present ideas by preparing and delivering impromptu speeches on assigned topics
Conduct productive meetings by practicing time management, organization and planning skills as they lead Toastmasters club meetings
Listen better as they apply the behaviors of a good listener during club meetings such as maintaining eye contact, observing body language and asking questions to confirm understanding
Develop their leadership potential serving in club officer positions
As you can see, the initial investment to start a Toastmasters club here at your organization is minimal.
$125: One-time charter fee
$20: New-member fee per person
$36: Six months' membership dues per person ($27 for clubs not in a district)
Each club can charge supplementary dues to help cover expenses, if needed.
Here are a few of the most common levels of support offered by sponsoring organizations:
Meeting accommodations
Payment of the one-time charter fee
Reimbursement or payment of full or partial membership dues and new-member fees
Permission to hold meetings during company time
Incentives for achieving goals
Formal integration of Toastmasters meetings in the organization’s training program
