You need to make new things. Here's the problem. Most people don't like new things. Aeron chairs, Red Bull and the Smash Martians advertisments died in research.
There is a better way. Co-create with consumers. Not your average customers, but the hackers, the obsessives and the rejectors. The creatives, the crazy ones. That's what we do at Sense Worldwide. Here's some of the things we've found out in our adventures in Extreme Consumerland.
Influencing change through presentationsTravis Isaacs
The ability to craft (and deliver) a good presentation should be in the quiver of every designer, right along side their Moleskine and Micron pens.
I use presentations to unravel a vague idea or requirement to be sure I completely understand all of the facets and details. If I can’t clearly explain a topic or idea then I need to go back to the project stakeholder and regroup. In some cases this will uncover holes that need to be address even before I start sketching out a wire frame.

Despite spending vast amounts of time and money on employee engagement, engagement metrics remain stagnant. What if, instead of obsessing about how to increase employee engagement, how to improve and position your employer brand, or how to fight the war for talent, you instead put serious effort into thinking about how to improve and position your employees?
David Willows, from the International School of Brussels, delivered this presentation as a pre-conference, full-day workshop at the Leadership Conference, 2014, about admissions, administrative functions, school communications, fundraising as well as alumni.
In January 2014 we launched Wolf & Wilhelmine, a brand shop driven by our purpose of Do Great Work, Live Great Lives.

The Employee Journey: the Foundation of Employee Experience DesignBambooHR
At a time when financial capital is cheap and readily available, but human capital isn’t, there’s an urgency to increase Employee Lifetime Value (or eLTV). But to do that, we have to understand the employee journey. We have to know what brings them in and causes them to stay. We have to know what engages them and causes them to perform.
Armed with that understanding, we can begin to architect an employee journey that reduces time to value, increases time in value, and increases time in role (the core elements of eLTV).
In this session you’ll learn the fundamental elements of the employee journey and the building blocks of employee success. You’ll learn how to diagnose disengagement, how to detect emotional distancing, and how to architect intervention opportunities with analytics and “stay Interviews”. You’ll learn the importance of onboarding, and re-boarding. You’ll also learn how this employee journey becomes a core component of culture, and the gravitational pull your organization has on your employees.
As a startup founder, you probably don’t want to hear this. But if you want to accomplish wonders, you must: 9 out of every 10 startups fail. It’s not the product and not even the distribution where things tend to go sour most of the time. It’s the inner workings of your organization. To succeed, you must hack your culture with as much dedication as you pour into your products. To help you get started, we facilitate 37 hour culture hackathons. They are fun, high-energy and high-paced culture-prototyping sessions where your team develops a blueprint of a culture you need to succeed.
